HVAC Application Engineer

About the Role

This position is focused on supporting the successful application of technical HVAC solutions in the field, ensuring systems are effectively installed, commissioned, and maintained to meet client needs. The ideal candidate will act as a bridge between engineering, product teams, and end users, applying hands-on expertise while also supporting product documentation and improvement efforts. Regular travel may be necessary for site assessments, commissioning activities, and customer engagement. When not onsite, responsibilities shift toward maintaining technical resources like manuals, diagrams, and installation guides.

Key Responsibilities

Field-Based Support & Commissioning

• Visit client locations to assess installation conditions and oversee commissioning/start-up activities
• Guide and support contractors during on-site HVAC system installs, ensuring quality execution across electrical, piping, ductwork, and system integration
• Diagnose and resolve technical issues, including alarm triggers, hardware faults, and potential software anomalies
• Act as the onsite lead for initial deployments of new equipment, including supervising software updates where required
• Evaluate project completion documentation and authorize warranty initiation for installed systems
• Be available for emergency technical response if needed

Technical Documentation & Customer Enablement

• Develop and update technical documents, including install instructions, technical drawings, and service notices
• Analyze design packages, building layouts, and contractor submittals
• Deliver product training sessions for clients and field partners
• Communicate field insights to internal teams to support continuous product development
• Recommend improvements to product installation methods and system integration
• Gather and report feedback from end-users to inform future product roadmaps
• Bachelor's degree in a related engineering discipline (Mechanical, Electrical, or equivalent)
• At least 3 years of hands-on HVAC system experience
• Familiarity with applicable mechanical and electrical installation standards is beneficial
• Strong troubleshooting skills across mechanical and control systems
• Ability to manage technical documentation and field communications with clarity
