Job summary

Ford is seeking a Design & Release Engineer for the HV Battery Array team in Michigan. You will design, validate, and release HV battery modules and help establish laser welding capability for HV cells.

You will own weld specifications, support plant trials, and collaborate across global teams to meet performance goals. You will drive DVP&R, DV, and PV testing, manage interfaces, and ensure design release activities in WERS and related quality documents.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of relevant experience in electrified powertrain or HV battery systems.
• Experience in Design and Release roles, supplier management, and multi-discipline engineering in electrification.
• Experience writing requirements and engineering specifications and evaluating supplier designs against them.
• Experience developing and evaluating DVP&R, DV and PV test plans.
• Experience with FMA processes and quality documents (DFMEA, PFMEA, control plans).
• Knowledge of GD&T standards, 2D prints, and tolerance stack-up analysis.
• Strong presentation and communication skills to report to management and leads.
• Ability to work across functions and with multiple stakeholders; proactive and detail oriented.

Responsibilities

• Design and release HV battery welded array modules with cross-functional teams.
• Develop and ensure electrical, mechanical, and thermal interface compatibility.
• Evaluate supplier designs for cost efficiency and manufacturability.
• Lead design reviews, validation, and process verification activities (DV/PV/DVP&R).
• Collaborate with global teams to meet package and performance requirements.
• Support early plant trials and pre-production builds.
• Identify process and design improvements for efficiency and cost savings.
• Communicate issues and drive technical resolution with leadership.
