Husbandry Kennel Assistant

About The Role

It is the responsibility of the Husbandry Kennel Assistant to provide quality and compassionate care to all GCVS patients. Husbandry Kennel Assistants are responsible for maintaining cleanliness in all areas of the hospital as assigned, and assisting Veterinary Technicians (VTs), Veterinary Assistants (VAs), Client Patient Coordinators (CPCs) and Veterinarians with their daily duties, if asked for assistance. This position requires a dependable, high energy person who can handle multiple tasks at one time as well as a high-stress, fast pace environment.

Compensation

• $13 - $15 depending on experience

Schedule:

• Part Time
• Monday through Friday
• 10AM-2PM

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

The ideal candidate has experience and confidence handling companion animals, has excellent client service skills, works well independently, is hard working, friendly, and punctual.

Animal Attendance

• Ensure the needs of our pre-op patients are met, including:
• Walks
• Providing water
• Maintaining overall care

Restraint

• Restraint of canines and felines for catheters, blood draws, vitals, or Doctor examination
• Assisting DVMs in the ICU ward as needed.

Clerical

• Typing on a computer keyboard
• Documenting legibly in patient records
• Performing general function of the phone system

Job Requirements:

• Experience with companion animals, providing basic needs
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• The ability to thrive under pressure and make informed decisions in fast-paced situations.
• A genuine passion for animal care and a commitment to patient well-being.
• Fluent English skills (speaking & reading) are required for the role; fluency in multiple languages a plus!
