Job Description
Work at Home Bilingual Hunanese - English Phone Interpreter

Location: Remote position in the United States

Pay: $2.50 - $2.55 per minute, depending on the time of day and interpretation level.

Position Overview

The Hunanese Telephone Interpreter handles on-demand calls, interpreting conversations between Hunanese and English speakers across various industries such as Healthcare, Government, Insurance, Financial, Utilities, Travel & Hospitality, Business, Law Enforcement, Court, and 911.

The role requires quick, concise processing of information, cultural sensitivity, professionalism, and understanding of industry-specific terminology. The interpretation involves verbal translation only.

This is a remote role. The interpreter must work from a quiet, secure home environment.

Essential Job Functions
  • Respond promptly and professionally during interpreting sessions.
  • Accurately convey concepts and meanings, adhering to interpretation protocols.
  • Use clear pronunciation and maintain professionalism.
  • Stay calm and composed, especially during emergencies or emotional calls.
  • Be punctual and available during scheduled hours.
  • Follow client instructions and protocol, avoiding unauthorized interactions with LEP individuals.
  • Understand industry-specific terminology and demonstrate cultural sensitivity.
  • Handle potentially emotional or stressful calls and extended sessions effectively.
Qualifications
  • Fluency in Hunanese and English with cultural understanding.
  • Strong listening, retention, and note-taking skills for accuracy.
  • Ability to remain neutral and objective, handling sensitive topics with professionalism.
  • Preferred experience in language-related fields.
  • Adaptability to technological updates.
  • Minimum age 18, authorized to work in the US, with appropriate work authorization.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Ability to read and write in requested languages is highly preferred.
Additional Requirements

Post-offer background checks and drug screening may be required based on location.

Technical & Physical Requirements
  • Dedicated device (computer, tablet, or smartphone) with internet access meeting specified speeds.
  • Quiet workspace free from distractions.
  • Manual dexterity for typing and operating software.
  • Ability to lift up to 26 lbs and operate in a stationary position for most of the day.
