Job summary

Germanna Community College is seeking Humanities Adjuncts for Summer and Fall 2026 to teach courses in a flexible format, including in-person and online modalities.

Adjunct faculty will plan and deliver courses, engage students, and use Canvas/TOPS 2.2 along with other LMS tools. Remote teaching capability and strong communication are essential for student success.

Qualifications

• Master’s Degree with at least eighteen graduate hours in the specific discipline.
• Official transcripts required prior to final offer.
• Ability to demonstrate use of relevant technology and learning management systems to facilitate teaching, learning, assessment, and communication.
• Commitment to student engagement in the online teaching environment including maintaining consistent communication and virtual support mechanisms to ensure student success.
• Technology capability (access to WIFI, computers) to teach remotely.
• All teaching positions require the ability to teach in a variety of modalities including virtually.
• Demonstrate competency and commitment to continuous professional development in virtual education.
• Complete Growing with Canvas and TOPS 2.2 prior to teaching.

Germanna Community College is a public, open access institution of higher education in the Virginia Community College System. Germanna Community College is centrally located in Fredericksburg, VA between Washington D.C. and Richmond and between the Blue Ridge mountains and the Chesapeake Bay. Adjunct faculty members are responsible for effectively planning and teaching courses in a classroom environment to students with a variety of academic backgrounds and experiences. We are currently seeking adjuncts in the field of Humanities.

Please note: This wide salary range reflects the diverse faculty ranks within the Virginia Community College System (VCCS). Final salary determination and placement within this range are based on the candidate’s academic credentials and occupational experience as evaluated via the VCCS-10 process.

Special Assignments May be required to perform other duties as assigned. May be required to assist the agency or state government generally in the event of an emergency declaration by the Governor.

KSA's/Required Qualifications

• Master’s Degree with at least eighteen graduate semester hours in the specific discipline

• Substantial, proven experience with innovative teaching and developing online courses in both the synchronous and asynchronous learning environments at a regionally accredited institution
