Job summary

Johns Hopkins Applied Physics Laboratory (APL) seeks a systems engineering professional to help design and implement complex military systems for the DoD. The role spans human-system design, requirements development, and cross-disciplinary collaboration to advance warfighter-augmenting capabilities.

The selected candidate will lead fast-paced research on human-machine teamwork, automation, and AI-enabled systems while shaping research vision and coordinating with sponsors and stakeholders.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Systems Engineering, Civil Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or equivalent.
  • Passion for building team culture, driving innovation, and executing strategic initiatives.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Eligible for Secret level security clearance; U.S. citizenship required.

Responsibilities

  • Support the design and development of current and future systems using systems and mission engineering practices.
  • Facilitate warfighter engagement in system design and development.
  • Collaborate with engineers to generate human-system designs and concepts; develop system requirements; provide design feedback.
