Job summary

Greengate Fresh LLLP in Salinas, CA seeks an HR Supervisor to support recruiting, training, payroll, benefits, safety and employee relations. Leads in performance management and provides guidance in HR matters in the absence of the HR Director.

The role requires oversight of compensation, compliance, leaves, and policy development. Travel to Salinas, CA and Yuma, AZ is noted. 3+ years HR experience and Spanish bilingual proficiency are required.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of three (3) years Human Resources experience, preferably in HR Generalist or HR Assistant roles.
  • Experience in employment law and regulatory compliance is a plus.
  • Recruiting experience preferred.
  • PHR certification preferred.
  • Experience with payroll, FMLA/CFRA, PDL, ADA, HIPAA and EEOC.
  • Proficient knowledge of HRIS (UltiPro a plus) and MS Office; intermediate Excel.

Responsibilities

  • Develop job descriptions accurate and compliant with regulations; establish career path structures.
  • Participate in salary range development and merit increase guidelines.
  • Manage department compliance programs including EEO-1 reporting and records retention.

The Human Resources Supervisor supports the overall Human Resources and Location function through recruiting, training, performance management, safety, benefits, and payroll and employee relations. Provides leadership and takes an active role in all HR related matters, and provides counsel and advice regarding issues that arise in the absence of the HR Director.

KEY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
  • JOB DESCRIPTIONS. Develop job descriptions that are accurate and compliant per applicable regulations, participate with and provide input in establishing a structure for career path by position, follow FLSA criteria to determine position exemption status.
  • COMPENSATION EVALUATION AND ANALYSIS to include participating in compensation and benefit surveys; sourcing and obtaining compensation and benefits survey data; analyzing compensation information by position to form recommendations on salary range; participate with and provide input in building salary ranges, grades, and structured program including merit and other pay increase guidelines.
  • COMPLIANCE. Manage the department’s compliance program with regard to required postings and notices in the employment process, EEO-1 reporting, record retention program, personnel and medical files as well as other HR related files, and healthcare reform compliance for all health and welfare plans offered by the company. Ensure required compliance training is scheduled and conducted for harassment prevention in the workplace.
  • LEAVES OF ABSENCE. Oversee and manage the leave of absence program for all company employees. Ensure standard operating procedure is in place, leave materials and processing of leaves is compliant, ensure leaves are tracked and monitored on a regular basis.
  • POLICIES AND PROCEDURES. Administer various human resources plans and procedures for company personnel; assist in development and implementation of personnel policies and procedures; prepare and maintain employee handbook and policies and procedures manual.
  • BENEFITS ADMINISTRATION. Administer the Company’s benefits program for administrative/non-union employees to include claims resolution, change reporting, approving invoices for payment, and communicating benefit information to employees. Manage and administer the company’s wellness program.
  • EMPLOYEE RELATIONS and PERFORMANCE MANAGEMENT. As assigned, partner with managers and provide consultation and guidance to improve manager and employee performance by identifying and clarifying problems; evaluating potential solutions; implementing selected solution; coaching and counseling managers and employees. Assist in conducting investigations and in responding to regulatory agencies. Provide assistance in investigating and responding to grievances.
  • TRAINING. Participate and make recommendations in developing a company-wide training program for administrative employees, identify training needs, costs, source trainers, coordinate and schedule the training, track and monitor training attendance and effectiveness.
  • Responsible for the consistent application of Human Resources (HR) activities (i.e. employment, compensation, benefits, training, employee relations).
  • Responsible for benefit plan interpretation, communication, and enrollment including the standard benefits package and retirement plans.
  • Writes and delivers presentations regarding human resources policies and procedures.
  • Responsible for Safety committee meetings, Incident investigation and help with corrective action.
  • Responds to inquiries regarding policies, procedures, and programs.
  • Assists in the development and presentation of management training in Company human resources policies and supervision/management training.
  • Conducts new-hire training programs (Orientation, etc.).
  • Performs recruiting process to include placing of advertisements, screening and interviewing applicants, coordinating hiring process and pre-employment testing.
  • Prepares necessary documentation for employee onboarding, termination, resignation, etc. Conducts exit interviews.
  • Maintains confidentiality within HR Department.
  • Adheres to safety policies and procedures related to all facets of the job.
  • Assists in evaluation of reports, decisions, and results of department in relation to established goals. Recommend new approaches, policies, and procedures to effect continual improvements in efficiency of department and services performed.
  • Protect organization's value by keeping information confidential.
  • Comply with federal, state, and local legal requirements by studying existing and new legislation; anticipating legislation; enforcing adherence to requirements; advising management on needed actions.
  • Update job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading professional publications; maintaining personal networks; participating in professional organizations.
  • Travel to Salinas, CA/Yuma, AZ

EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
  • Minimum of three (3) years Human Resources experience, preferably in the capacity of HR Generalist or HR Assistant
  • Experience in employment law and regulatory compliance a plus
  • Recruiting experience preferred
  • Professional in Human Resources (PHR) certification preferred.
  • Experience with Payroll, FMLA/CFRA, PDL, ADA, Disability Leave, Benefits, National Labor Relations Act, Dept. Of Labor, Fair Labor Standards Act, ERISA, HIPAA, DFEH, EEOC.
  • Working knowledge of payroll and HRIS systems (experience with UltiPro a plus) and proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Intermediate working experience with Excel.
QUALIFICATIONS: EDUCATION/LICENSES/CERTIFICATION/FORMAL TRAINING
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources or Business preferred
  • Spanish bilingual REQUIRED
