Job Title: Human Resources Generalist (Kent, WA)
Job Description
This position is entirely onsite, working from 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. The candidate must pass a pre-employment drug and background check. In this role, you will be central to our HR operations, collaborating closely with the HR Manager to support our business unit.
Responsibilities
- Partner with the HR Manager to manage full-cycle recruiting, maintain job descriptions, and ensure inclusive hiring practices.
- Provide HR guidance, support conflict resolution, and develop programs to enhance employee engagement.
- Administer payroll, benefits, leave programs, and ensure compliance with laws and company policies.
- Engage stakeholders in problem-solving and decision-making processes.
- Offer support and counseling to employees regarding job-related conflicts, problem-solving, and dispute resolution.
- Develop solutions and programs to increase employee engagement, such as scheduling events, employee recognition programs, service award programs, and flu clinics.
- Manage employee recognition and service awards, and administer surveys promptly.
- Consult with line management, providing HR guidance when appropriate.
- Partner with the HR Manager and Corporate Talent team to manage full-cycle recruiting and conduct exit interviews.
- Generate accounting and payroll reports, including weekly payroll, 401(k) processing, monthly PTO, pension, union dues, and maintain attendance tracker.
- Keep employee files updated, ensuring confidentiality and compliance with laws and company policies.
- Act as backup HR Manager for payroll, meeting all deadlines and ensuring policy and legal compliance.
- Conduct annual benefits open enrollment and other benefits-related programs as needed.
- Coordinate the administration of all Leave of Absence programs and processes, including the facilitation of other leave requests, such as ADA accommodation requests, with a third-party administrator.
- Partner with HR Manager to monitor wage and hour rules, ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local laws.
- Work with Corporate HRIS and Benefits to provide system support and troubleshoot system problems.
- Contribute to the design and delivery of HR-related communications, including benefits, emails, policy changes, and AppSpace.
Essential Skills
- Strong knowledge of employment law and regulations.
- Excellent communication and analytical skills.
- Proficiency in MS Office Suite and HRIS system UKG.
- Demonstrated knowledge of employment law, regulations, and statutes.
- Effective prioritization, organization, and judgment considering risk/reward and legal requirements.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders.
- Excellent interpersonal, negotiation, and conflict resolution skills.
- Authorized to work in the United States.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Experience with human resources, employee relations, onboarding, data entry, recruiting, customer service, administrative support, HR administration, recruitment, and HR systems.
- Knowledge of HR systems like UKG and UltiPro.
- Familiarity with administration, FMLA, human resource management, employee benefits, HR support, benefits administration, case management, clerical compliance, open enrollment, support, HRIS, Outlook, new hire orientation, and Excel pivot tables.
- Preferably SHRM or PHR certified.
Work Environment
The work environment is within a wiring company, characterized by a blue-collar atmosphere. Candidates should come from a relevant industry and be comfortable wearing a hard hat and steel-toe boots when visiting the manufacturing area. The firm has approximately 100 employees, with free parking and a large cubicle for individual work. After three months, the role may transition to a direct position with the client.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $30.00 - $40.00/hr.
