In 1957, a grassroots organization formed the Rolla Cerebral Palsy School in Phelps County, Missouri. From those humble beginnings, Choices for People was born and now provides Day, Community, and Residential Services to over 350 individuals in 30 plus counties throughout Missouri.

Monday-Friday 8:00 am to 4:00 pm

Status:

Full time. Non-Exempt

Starting Salary Range:

$20.00-$22.00 per hour

What You’ll Do:

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Maintain employee personnel files and Human Resource Information System (HRIS) records with accuracy and confidentiality.
  • Coordinate leave administration, including FMLA, ADA accommodations, workers' compensation, and other applicable leave programs.
  • Assist employees and supervisors by responding to questions regarding policies, benefits, and HR procedures.
  • Support employee investigations, disciplinary processes, and employee relations matters while maintaining professionalism and confidentiality.
  • Monitor compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and organizational policies.
  • Coordinate required background screenings, drug screenings, license verifications, and other pre-employment and ongoing compliance requirements.
  • Assist with HR audits, reporting requirements, and data analysis to ensure organizational compliance and operational efficiency.
  • Generate HR reports and maintain employment metrics for leadership review.
  • Participate in HR projects, process improvements, and strategic initiatives to improve departmental effectiveness.
  • Maintain knowledge of relevant employment laws, HR best practices, and regulatory requirements.
  • Maintain accurate and timely records related to employee files, benefits, leave administration, compliance activities, and other assigned documentation.
  • Maintain strict confidentiality regarding all employee, applicant, and organizational information and comply with HIPAA and all applicable privacy and confidentiality laws.
  • Support strategic planning related to workforce development, employee engagement, recruitment, retention, and organizational growth.
  • Maintain knowledge of relevant industry trends, best practices, and regulations related to event planning, accessibility, and nonprofit engagement.
  • Maintain accurate and timely records related to events, participation, budgets, reporting requirements, and other assigned documentation.
  • Uphold organizational policies and ensure that all event-related and operational activities align with applicable internal procedures, state and federal regulations, and compliance standards.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
What We’re Looking For:
Education and/or Experience:
  • Associate’s degree in human resources, Business Administration, or related field, or an equivalent combination of Human Resources experience.
  • At least two years of experience in Human Resources.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, with staff, leadership, individuals served, and external stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively, build relationships, and engage effectively with individuals served, staff, community members, and partners.
  • Strong initiative, independence, and time-management abilities.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
  • Strong organizational and project management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
  • Working knowledge of federal and state employment laws, including FMLA, ADA, FLSA, EEO, and other employment regulations.
  • Ability to interpret and apply organizational policies consistently and fairly.
  • Strong commitment to the organization's mission, vision, and values.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, HRIS platforms, and other technology utilized in Human Resources.
  • Ability to prepare reports, analyze employment data, and maintain accurate records.
  • Ability to represent the organization professionally in community settings, stakeholder meetings, and public events.
Physical Demands:
  • Ability to stand, move, and be physically active for extended periods.
  • Ability to regularly lift 30–50 pounds.
  • Ability to participate in and support activities occurring in a variety of environments (indoor, outdoor, community settings).

  • Primarily an office-based position with regular business hours
