  • Experience overseeing HR technology, vendors, employee data, reporting, audits, and operational controls.

Job description

The HR Operations Manager will be responsible for the operational side of the employee experience, with ownership across payroll, compensation, benefits, compliance, HR technology, reporting, and employee records.

This role requires an experienced HR professional who can take ownership of detailed processes, maintain appropriate controls, and work across departments to keep people-related programs running effectively.

Key Responsibilities
Employee Operations
  • Coordinate HR activities throughout an employee’s tenure, from initial onboarding through changes in role or compensation, leave periods, and separation
  • Oversee the accuracy and completion of employee records and related administrative updates
  • Establish repeatable workflows, documented procedures, controls, and service standards for ongoing HR activities
  • Act as a resource for employees and managers regarding HR processes, policies, benefits, compensation, leave, and payroll matters
Payroll & Compensation
  • Take responsibility for payroll administration, including provider coordination, review, approval, audits, troubleshooting, and ongoing process improvements
  • Handle employee pay-related activity such as deductions, bonuses, commissions, equity-related payments, and other compensation changes
  • Participate in the development and administration of pay ranges, job levels, market data, and annual compensation reviews
  • Coordinate incentive programs with Finance and leadership, including planning, approvals, communications, and reporting
  • Help ensure compensation practices are applied consistently, competitively, and equitably
  • Work with benefits brokers and other vendors on plan administration, renewals, communications, and issue resolution
Policies & Regulatory Requirements
  • Maintain the organization’s HR policies, employee handbook, and internal operating guidance
  • Help ensure HR practices remain consistent with applicable federal, state, and local employment requirements, including wage and hour rules, reporting, and record retention
  • Organize audits, required filings, policy acknowledgments, compliance training, and related activities
  • Engage with Legal and external advisors on complex matters and updates to HR practices or documentation
  • Oversee HR technology and associated workflows, including data accuracy, user access, and system integrations
  • Produce workforce and compensation reporting, dashboards, and analysis for planning, budgeting, audits, and leadership needs
  • Maintain appropriate controls and governance around employee information, including its accuracy, privacy, and security
  • Identify opportunities to automate manual tasks and improve the way HR processes are delivered
Cross-Functional Support
  • Work with Finance, Legal, IT, and business leaders to coordinate and implement people-related processes
  • Support employee relations and performance activities through documentation, policy interpretation, and follow-through
  • Contribute to initiatives involving organizational effectiveness, employee experience, and culture
Qualifications
Required Background
  • 8+ years of progressively responsible experience in HR or People Operations, including hands-on experience with payroll, compensation, compliance, or HR operations
  • Experience with stock or equity administration
  • Working knowledge of payroll, compensation, employment compliance, and employee lifecycle administration
  • Experience overseeing HR technology, vendors, employee data, reporting, audits, and operational controls
  • Ability to develop scalable processes without compromising accuracy, confidentiality, or employee service
  • Strong project management, analytical, communication, and stakeholder management capabilities
  • Sound judgment, strong attention to detail, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-changing environment
Preferred Background
  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources or a related field, equivalent experience, or HR certification
  • Experience supporting employees in multiple states
  • Familiarity with job architecture, salary structures, compensation cycles, and incentive or equity programs
  • Knowledge of benefits and leave programs
  • Experience with HRIS or payroll system implementations
