TheHuman Resources Managerreports to the Assistant Director of Human Resources and will be provide Human Resource support for St. Croix, St. Thomas and St. John. Responsibilities include but are not limited to staff planning, recruitment, employee relations, benefits enrollment, training and other human resources programs and services.

Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with the Virgin Islands J. Benton HR team and other departments to support company-wide initiatives and projects including recruitment, onboarding, training, performance management, and employee relations.
  • Provide leadership and guidance to direct reports through coaching, mentoring, and ongoing professional development.
  • Develop, implement, and continuously refine HR policies and procedures to ensure legal compliance, promote consistency, and support a positive and productive workplace culture.
  • Oversee the recruitment process, from job posting to selection, and assist with interviews as needed.
  • Oversee employee relations, including conflict resolution, disciplinary actions, and grievance procedures.
  • Support and advise management on HR-related issues, ensuring adherence to labor laws.
  • Assist with employee benefits including open enrollment and answering general questions.
  • Participate in the design and implementation of HR strategies / initiatives aligned with the company’s strategic goals.
  • Monitor and improve HR metrics such as turnover, employee satisfaction, and time-to-hire.
  • Analyze HR data and trends to inform decision-making and measure the effectiveness of HR programs.

Required Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree in human resources, Business Administration or a related field preferred.
  • Construction Industry experience preferred.
  • HR certification preferred.
  • Proven experience as an HR Manager or similar role, with a minimum of 3-5 years in a managerial HR position.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office.
  • Proficiency with or the ability to quickly learn the organization’s HRIS system.
  • Strong leadership, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong problem-solving and conflict-resolution skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment, handling multiple tasks while maintaining attention to detail.
  • Ability to travel between islands as needed based on business needs.
Additional Information:
  • This is an in-office position located in St. Croix with frequent overnight/weeklong travel to St. Thomas/St. john.
  • Bilingual proficiency in English/Spanish, with excellent verbal and written communication skills in both languages preferred.
