Description

The Human Resources Manager will work collaboratively with attorneys, management, and business professionals in both NY/MIA office locations to deliver value-added service, aligned with the office and firm's strategic direction, vision, and values.

The role holder will serve as a trusted advisor to management on human resource-related issues, act as an employee champion and change agent, assess and anticipate HR-related needs, communicate needs proactively with our Human Resources team and business management, and develop integrated solutions. They will maintain an effective level of business knowledge about the Texas offices and Firm, its strategic plans, its culture, and its competition.

This is a highly collaborative role, requiring close liaison with the Country Head - US Talent Management (TM), United States, and other office-based TM Human Resources Managers in NA. It involves providing consistent, high-quality HR support to office management, practice group leaders, and professional leaders, requiring proactive and reliable HR advice and service.

Responsibilities

  • Operate as a HR advisor for the NY/MIA offices to understand strategic needs; liaise with People functions to deliver solutions that meet North America requirements.
  • Consult with managers on performance management, coaching, counseling, career development, disciplinary actions.
  • Liaise with Global Mobility Advisory Group on mobility issues; serve as local contact for incoming/outgoing mobility.
  • Manage and resolve employee relations issues; conduct investigations.
  • Ensure compliance with legal requirements; partner with legal department as needed.
  • Analyze trends and develop solutions, programs, and policies.
  • Partner with management on work relationships, morale, productivity, retention, workforce planning, and training needs.
  • Coordinate recruitment, onboarding, and induction processes.
  • Provide HR policy guidance and develop contract terms for new hires, promotions, and transfers.
  • Participate in training program evaluation and monitoring.
  • Manage employee terminations and partner onboarding/departures.
  • Lead office meetings, committees, and initiatives related to diversity and administration.
  • Manage performance processes and collaborate on attorney performance and development initiatives.
  • Provide career development coaching and organizational development support.
  • Support integration efforts of attorneys and professionals.
  • Assist in developing HR strategies and resources for NA.

Skills and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in HR, Psychology, Management, or related; professional HR certification preferred.
  • Extensive HR/Talent Management experience, preferably in a law firm or professional services.
  • Strong knowledge of HR disciplines and employment laws.
  • Experience across multiple locations and jurisdictions.
  • Excellent communication skills; fluent English required.
  • Proven problem-solving and results-driven approach.
  • Ability to influence and collaborate with senior leaders.
  • Discretion, diplomacy, and confidentiality.

In New York State, the base salary range is $140,000-$165,000 annually.
