We are seeking an experienced and strategic Human Resources Manager to join our team at HEI Civil- Carolinas. The HR Manager will play a pivotal role in shaping our organization's people-related strategies, fostering a positive work culture, and ensuring the effective management of all HR functions.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and execute HR strategies tailored to the construction industry, focusing on attracting, developing, and retaining top-tier talent while aligning with the company's goals.
  • Oversee the end-to-end recruitment process for various construction roles, collaborating closely with managers to ensure timely and effective hiring.
  • Address employee concerns, resolve conflicts, and promote open communication within the context of a construction worksite. Provide guidance on policy interpretation and disciplinary actions as needed.
  • Manage accurate and timely payroll processing for employees, ensuring compliance with wage and hour laws, and construction-specific compensation practices.
  • Manage workers' compensation cases in the construction industry, including communication with injured employees, claims processing, liaising with insurance providers, and facilitating return-to-work programs.
  • Collaborate with construction project managers to ensure accurate reporting of project-related compensation, per diems, and reimbursements. Manage benefits programs tailored to the construction workforce's needs.
  • Develop and maintain HR policies that align with construction industry regulations and safety requirements. Ensure proper documentation and reporting for compliance.
  • Promote diversity and inclusion initiatives that create an inclusive worksite environment, considering the unique challenges of the construction industry.
  • Lead and mentor the HR team, fostering collaboration and providing guidance to ensure HR practices align with construction industry demands.
  • Any additional responsibilities assigned as needed.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • 3+ years of experience in HR management or a related role.
  • Understanding of HR best practices, labor laws, and regulations within the context of construction operations.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, essential for effective collaboration with construction employees, project managers, and senior leadership.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to adapt HR strategies to the dynamic and project-based nature of construction work.
  • Professional certifications such as SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP, or PHR are a plus.
  • Proficient in MS Word, Outlook, MS Project, Excel and other Microsoft Office tools, and some knowledge of applicable HRIS.
  • Proven organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Strong interpersonal skills along with excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Bilingual in Spanish preferred.
  • Ability to manage a team.

Education and Experience:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in human resources, Business Administration, or a related field; Master's degree preferred.
  • Experience: 5+ years of experience in Human Resources with construction background preferred.

Physical Requirements and Environmental Conditions:

  • Extended periods of time sitting and looking at a computer.
  • Work environment is based in the office with varying temperatures.
