The Precision Optics business unit of the MATERION Group is one of the world´s leading manufacturers of optical components. We are seeking a trusted, ‘value-add’ Human Resources Manager who can manage high impact Human Resources for our Materion Precision Optics employees in North America, including our manufacturing plants in Westford & Tyngsboro, MA, with approx. 110 employees.
As a Human Resources Manager based in Westford, you cover the entire range of operational and strategic tasks, including staffing, performance management, talent development, positive employee relations, as well as helping to create an inclusive environment where all employees can do their best work.
This role reports to the Vice President, Human Resources MPO and EMEA Region, and works closely with the site leadership team and workforce, as well as HR colleagues across the organization.
You Will Have The Opportunity To
- Partner to leaders by consulting and supporting them to effectively manage and develop their people, including best use of tools, processes and interventions
- Understand the business needs and provide advice and guidance to different levels of leaders about the employee HR cycle
- Deploy HR processes and initiatives to support business objectives and advance the people agenda including compensation, performance management, staffing, workforce development, employee relations, and succession planning
- Build positive relationships across all levels; be a trusted advisor to business leaders and employees, providing coaching and direction in HR related matters
- Participate in HR projects and continuous improvement initiatives at the local and global level
- Keep abreast of employment law changes and trends that impact the business
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree
- A minimum of five years of HR experience in a technical / manufacturing environment
- Experience in a multinational company with a global matrix organization and high change / transformation power
- IT savvy and proficient in Microsoft office applications and HRIS (e.g. Workday)
- Able to prioritize and multi-task in a fast-paced environment
- Change agent
- Strong team player who enjoys interaction with people of all levels in an organization
- Emotional intelligence, solid communication skills - both written and verbal, with demonstrated ability to connect with employees at all levels and to communicate through multiple channels up, down, and across and to create transparency and trust within the team and the organization
- Intellectual agility, works with minimum supervision, takes initiative and proactively seeks areas for improvement
The selection of the person to be hired for this position is contingent on the candidate having export compliance eligibility for access to U.S. controlled technology which comes under the licensing jurisdiction of the U.S. Department of State, International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) and the U.S. Department of Commerce, Export Administration Regulations (EAR).
The candidate selected will have to qualify as either a U.S. citizen, a U.S. National, a lawful permanent resident of the U.S., a Person Admitted into the U.S. as an Asylee or Refugee., a National of a country that is not prohibited from having access to U.S. controlled technology (via a letter of assurance), or a Person to be approved for an export license by the governing agency whose technology comes under its jurisdiction.
