Job summary

PlayCore is seeking an Human Resources Manager to lead day-to-day HR across construction-related businesses with a focus on field installation teams across the United States. You will partner with operations leadership and field staff to ensure policy consistency, employment law compliance, and effective employee relations.

The ideal candidate has experience supporting construction, field service, or skilled trades workforces and understands the challenges of managing geographically dispersed

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field, or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum 5+ years of progressive HR experience.
  • Experience supporting construction, field services, or mobile workforces is strongly preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of employment law, compliance, and HR best practices.
  • Experience supporting multi-site and/or multi-state operations is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Manage all aspects of the employee lifecycle: recruiting, onboarding, development, performance, discipline, and termination.
  • Serve as primary HR contact for employees and leadership across all assigned businesses.
  • Provide guidance on HR policies, procedures, and best practices.
  • Lead full-cycle recruiting for hourly and salaried roles, and forecast staffing needs.
  • Coach managers on employee relations, performance management, and documentation.
  • Support compliance with federal, state, and local labor laws, and workers' compensation.
  • Assist with OSHA safety initiatives and reporting requirements.
  • Coordinate onboarding, training, and development programs; maintain HR metrics.
  • Support compensation, benefits administration, and payroll coordination.
  • Build strong relationships with field employees and operational leadership across locations.

Job description

The Human Resources Manager is responsible for leading and executing all day-to-day human resources functions across multiple construction-related businesses with a primary focus on supporting field installation and construction teams located throughout the United States. This role serves as the primary HR partner for operations leadership, field personnel, and administrative staff, ensuring consistent application of company policies, employment law compliance, workforce engagement, and effective employee relations.

The ideal candidate has experience supporting construction, field service, or skilled trades workforces and understands the unique culture and challenges of managing geographically dispersed employees.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Manage all aspects of the employee lifecycle, including recruiting, hiring, onboarding, development, performance management, discipline, and termination.
  • Serve as the primary HR contact for employees and leadership across all assigned businesses.
  • Provide guidance on HR policies, procedures, and best practices
Recruitment & Staffing
  • Lead full-cycle recruiting for hourly and salaried roles, including sourcing, interviewing, and selection
  • Partner with operational leadership to forecast workforce needs and develop staffing strategies to attract and retain talent.
Employee Relations & Leadership Support
  • Address employee concerns, conduct investigations, and resolve workplace issues professionally and consistently.
  • Coach managers on employee relations, performance management, discipline, and documentation
  • Support progressive discipline processes, up to and including termination while fostering a positive and compliant workplace environment
Compliance & Risk Management
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local labor laws (including multi-state requirements)
  • Manage workers' compensation claims, reporting, and return-to-work programs.
  • Support OSHA compliance, safety initiatives, and reporting requirements
Training, Analytics & Administration
  • Coordinate onboarding, training, and development programs
  • Maintain HR metrics and reporting related to recruiting, turnover, headcount and workforce trends.
  • Support compensation administration, benefits programs, HR transactions, and payroll coordination.
Operational Support
  • Build strong relationships with field employees and operational leadership across multiple locations.
  • Support construction operations by understanding workforce challenges, project staffing needs, travel requirements, and seasonal labor fluctuations.
  • Drive consistency in HR practices across all locations
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field (or equivalent experience)
  • Minimum of 5+ years of progressive HR experience
  • Experience supporting construction, field services, skilled trades, or similar mobile workforces strongly preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of employment law, compliance, and HR best practices
  • Experience supporting multi-site and/or multi-state operations strongly preferred
TRAVEL REQUIREMENT

Regular travel is required. Travel frequency will vary based on business needs but should be expected as a normal requirement of the position.

OTHER SKILLS AND REQUIREMENTS
  • Strong understanding of construction workforce and field operations
  • Ability to effectively communicate with field employees administrative staff, and leadership.
  • Strong interpersonal and employee relations skills
  • Proven ability to work independently and manage competing priorities
  • Proficiency in HRIS systems and Microsoft Office Suite
  • High level of discretion and professionalism
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
