Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in HR, business administration, communications, or related field.
  • Minimum 4 years' work experience in HR, payroll, or accounting.
  • HRIS and payroll system experience.
  • Working knowledge of California employment law, wage-and-hour requirements, payroll tax compliance, leave administration, and required employee notices.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and/or Google Suite of software applications.
  • Effectively communicate verbally and in writing in English.

Responsibilities

  • Utilize Payroll and HR software to accurately process bi-weekly payroll.
  • Manage employee personnel files and maintain confidentiality.
  • Work with CFO to maintain a competitive benefits program and administer health and retirement plans.
  • Organize required training in safety, harassment prevention, evacuation/safety, and workplace violence prevention.
  • Process workers' compensation claims and leave documentation.
  • Calculate and administer wage garnishments and respond to payroll/HR report requests.
  • Partner with managers on recruiting, employee relations, performance management, and policy interpretation.

Based in San Luis Obispo, California, we operate out of a modern 30,000-square-foot facility that supports our warehouse, operations, and staff. About the Role

The Human Resources Manager leads day-to-day human resources and payroll administration for Poly Performance. Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer, this role supports employees and managers, maintains compliant HR practices, administers benefits and leave programs, and helps foster a professional, inclusive, and productive workplace. This position requires the highest degree of accuracy, discretion, and confidentiality. The ideal candidate will be professional and approachable, with excellent communication skills, strong business acumen, and a desire to excel.

Responsibilities
  • Utilize Payroll and HR software to accurately process bi-weekly payroll.
  • Manage employee personnel files and maintain strict confidentiality.
  • Work closely with the CFO to maintain a competitive benefits program, administer health benefits, retirement plans, annual renewals.
  • Organize required training in safety, harassment prevention, evacuation/safety, and workplace violence prevention.
  • Process workers' compensation claims and reporting.
  • Prepare and deliver required leave documentation.
  • Calculate and administer required wage garnishments.
  • Act as employee liaison for all HR/payroll systems and benefit program providers.
  • Organize company events and work to facilitate a happy, healthy, culture and work environment.
  • Accurately respond to payroll and HR-related report requests.
  • Conduct new hire orientations, ensuring compliance with California new-hire notice requirements.
  • Prepare termination paperwork and complete exit interviews.
  • Partner with managers on recruiting, employee relations, performance management, policy interpretation, and workforce planning.
  • Monitor developments in applicable employment laws and recommend updates to company policies, practices, and employee communications.
  • Assist the CFO with developing a master budget to provide targets and accountability to department leads.
  • Responsible for keeping accurate records in a paperless environment. Must be highly organized.
  • Additional projects as needed.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in human resources, business administration, communications, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
  • Minimum 4 years' work experience in HR, payroll, or accounting.
  • HRIS and payroll system experience.
  • Working knowledge of California employment law, wage-and-hour requirements, payroll tax compliance, leave administration, and required employee notices.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and/or Google Suite of software applications.
  • Effectively communicate verbally and in writing in English.
Preferred Skills
  • Advanced Excel Skills.
  • Multi-state payroll experience.
  • Experience with Paycom software systems.
  • Experience with Delmi works and NetSuite ERP systems.
  • Experience implementing new software and programs.
Pay range and compensation package

Salary Range | $30-42 per hour
