Human Resources Manager – Domtar Paper & Packaging Division
Location: Rothschild, Wisconsin, United States. This is a full‑time, permanent position.
Responsibilities and Accountabilities
Business Partnership
- Collaborate with the leadership team to align human capital objectives with overall strategic and operational business goals and deliver financial results.
- Provide leadership through an understanding of key financial and operational business metrics, monitoring shifting trends to remain competitive.
- Ensure a team‑based work environment that drives a performance culture aligned with Domtar values and behaviors.
- Act as a change‑management leader with a strong emphasis on operations and productivity improvements.
Employee Relations / Labor Leadership
- Lead all labor relations functions, including negotiations, grievance resolution, arbitrations, and administration of collective bargaining agreements in partnership with divisional corporate leaders.
- Develop and maintain a positive partnership with union leadership to ensure sustainable business operations and results.
- Investigate and resolve complex employee relations issues and coach managers through performance management and employee concerns.
Talent Management
- Lead and drive the succession planning process to build a talent culture.
- Partner and coach key leaders to deliver reviews and performance plans.
- Conduct local recruitment efforts to find key talent and build bench strength, including partnering with local universities.
- Motivate and engage a team of HR direct reports aligned with the divisional HR strategy.
Other Duties
- Administer compensation program; monitor and revise performance evaluation program as necessary.
- Develop and maintain an affirmative action program.
- Maintain compliance with federal and provincial employment regulations.
- Manage local records and reporting in the Human Resource Information and Workforce Management Systems.

- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint); Outlook knowledge preferred.
Professional Experience and Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources, Business Administration or related field required; Master’s Degree preferred.
- 7–10 years of experience in manufacturing environments supporting non‑union or union settings; experience in a manufacturing setting preferred.
- Demonstrated strong change‑management skills.
- Experience coaching managers and employees for effective skill building.
- Strong conflict resolution, relationship building, and performance management skills.
