You will lead investigations, manage employee relations actions, and partner with safety leadership to keep compliance and incident response aligned across locations. This position also requires a balance of office administration and regular field presence, including travel to local sites and client-facing coordination.

Key responsibilities
  • Lead and document thorough, objective workplace investigations, including resolution of employee grievances.
  • Collaborate closely with the Safety Department to align HR practices with safety protocols, support accident investigations, and ensure compliance with MSPA and Hawaii DLIR standards.
  • Manage sensitive disciplinary actions and terminations in a legally and professionally defensible manner.
  • Direct hiring strategies to support both seasonal and year-round agricultural labor demands.
  • Oversee seasonal onboarding and offboarding procedures end to end.
  • Mentor and supervise the local HR Coordinator to ensure administrative accuracy.
  • Manage Hawaii Workers’ Compensation claims from initiation through resolution.
  • Administer employee health benefits and support open enrollment for the local workforce.
  • Serve as the direct point of contact for agricultural clients, requiring regular travel and visibility at field sites.
  • Partner with the Director of HR to analyze labor data and provide insights that improve operational excellence.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) is required, including the ability to conduct onboarding orientations, run complex investigations, and communicate labor, offboarding, and benefit standards fluently in both languages.
  • Proven ability to balance office administration with frequent field deployments for investigations, employee engagement, and operational oversight.
  • Demonstrated capability managing client relationships, supporting corporate partners, and delivering high-stakes consultative support.
  • Operational experience managing high-volume employee lifecycle activity, including seasonal hiring surges and offboarding compliance.
  • Working knowledge of Hawaii Workers’ Compensation regulations and health insurance mandates.
  • Strong skills in workplace investigation methods, interviewing techniques, conflict resolution, and legally defensible documentation.
  • Master-level understanding of federal MSPA and FLSA standards, plus Hawaii-specific state labor laws, wage-and-hour rules, and agricultural employment legislation.
  • Working knowledge of HRIS, time-tracking platforms, and agricultural payroll software (e.g., Data Tech, Heavy Connect).
  • Proven supervisory skills, including leading and mentoring HR personnel and guiding field supervisors on employee management.
  • Exceptional interpersonal and teamwork skills across field crews, grower-clients, and executive leadership.
  • Bachelor’s Degree (preferred) in Human Resources Management, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Valid HR certificate (e.g., SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP, PHR, or SPHR) is highly preferred.
  • Minimum 3 years of direct experience as an HR Manager or HR Director, preferably within an FLC, agricultural operation, or high-volume seasonal staffing environment.
