Job summary

The J.M. Smucker Company offers an on-site Human Resources internship at a Buffalo, NY manufacturing facility. You will assist in recruiting, onboarding, talent development, workforce planning, and engagement initiatives while partnering with plant leadership.

Ideal candidates are undergraduates in HR-related fields with a 3.0+ GPA, strong communication and organization skills, and a genuine interest in Manufacturing HR careers. Applications close Dec 1, 2026.

Responsibilities

• Identify and drive efficiencies in HR support by streamlining manual processes.
• Lead, participate in and/or support projects with timely completion within constraints.

Your Opportunity as a Humane Resources intern

As an intern within our Human Resources department at one of our manufacturing facilities, you will work with the Human Resources teams to assist in manufacturing hiring, onboarding, talent management, talent development, workforce planning, retention and engagement processes. You will gain meaningful and translatable experience from the real work that you will be provided with, relationship management, and professional development.

Location: Buffalo, NY

Work Arrangements: 100% on site expectations

In this role you will:

• Work directly with plant leadership and HR to attract, retain, and/or engage talent in alignment with the business strategy.
• Support recruiting activities for technical and hourly employees to include sourcing, screening, interviewing, etc.
• Support local site operations such as coordinating community relations or employee appreciation events among other site activities (donations/giveaways, visitor coordination, plant uniforms, communications).
• Identify and drive efficiencies in HR support by streamlining manual processes.
• Lead, participate in and/or support projects and ensure timely completion of assigned responsibilities within established constraints.
• Collaborate with diverse teams to support and deliver business needs.

What we are looking for:

• A sophomore or junior standing in school with requisite educational experience in Human Resources, Organizational Management, Psychology, or another relevant field
• A GPA of 3.0 or higher
• A well-rounded skill set including strong time-management, communication, teamwork skills, attention to detail, knowledge of standard business practices and professionalism in an HR environment as well as a passion for HR and serving our employee population
• A strong interest in Manufacturing HR career
