Turner Construction Company is seeking an HR intern to provide support across HR processes for HQ or BU teams. You will help administer initiatives, maintain personnel records, and assist with audits and reporting.

This seasonal, non-exempt internship emphasizes learning in payroll-adjacent systems, recruitment support, and onboarding materials, with a Monday–Friday schedule preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provide support for HR processes and efforts for HQ or BU HR teams.
  • Assist in administering HR initiatives and key programs.
  • Maintain electronic personnel files to support compliance and records retention.
  • Learn to generate reports and support HR requests.
  • Assist in HR audits and OFCCP regulatory tracking as directed.
  • Coordinate interviews, campus recruiting, onboarding materials, and candidate communications.
  • Support training event logistics and meeting preparations.
  • Contribute to HR continuous improvement initiatives.

The salary range for this position is estimated to be 20.00 - 25.00 USD annualized.

This position requires a minimum of 20 hours per week. Monday through Friday availability preferred. Salary Range: $20.00- $25.00 Hourly

Position Description

Provide support for general or department-specific administration of human resources processes and efforts for headquarters or business unit Human Resources team.

Essential Duties & Key Responsibilities
  • Embrace company culture, values, and provide support to Business Unit (BU) or Headquarters (HQ) Human Resources (HR) department team.
  • Support Diversity and Inclusion (D&I) activities company-wide.
  • Utilize HR systems, processes, and procedures to complete roles responsibilities.
  • Assist in administration of HR key initiatives.
  • Administer employee information changes and ensure data integrity in Human Resources related systems (e.g., HR Information Systems (HRIS), Applicant Tracking System (ATS), Learning Management System (LMS), and Talent Management Systems), including:
    • Maintain electronic personnel files to support legal compliance and manage records retention.
    • Learn to create and generate reports to support HR requests.
    • Assist in HR-related audit requests.
  • Perform Talent Acquisition activities:
    • Coordinate interviews schedules and provide communication to applicants and candidates.
    • Support college recruitment and career fairs activities; create on-site visit schedule, conduct confirmation messages for participant attendance, and distribute brochures and handouts.
    • Distribute relevant onboarding materials to new hires.
    • Provide support related BU Availability and Needs meetings.
    • Assist in Office of Federal Contract Compliance Programs (OFCCP) regulatory compliance tracking as directed.
    • Coordinate administrative pre-event materials, programs, and logistics for training events; and assist in preparation for HR-related meetings or events.
  • Participate in A3 problem solving and contribute new ideas to support continuous improvement in overall services of HR team.
  • Other activities, duties, and responsibilities as assigned.

This is not a remote/hybrid position and will be based in a Turner office or project location.

Qualifications
  • Enrolled and actively pursuing Bachelor's Degree from accredited degree program in Human Resources or Social Organizational Psychology, or related field
  • Approachable and proactive with positive client service attitude
  • Active listening skills with clear verbal and written communication skills
  • High degree of organization, proactive, and ability to elevate work for prioritization
  • Work independently with management oversight and in collaborative team environment
  • Proficient in computer skills, Microsoft Office, and database applications
