Job description

We are seeking a dynamicHuman Resources Generalistto join our growing team in Rochester, NY. This is a key position that will be responsible for creating and shaping HR policies, fostering a positive work culture, and ensuring alignment with the unique dynamics of the business. This role offers the opportunity to create and contribute across multiple facets of HR, while supporting a growing team environment and general office needs. The ideal candidate is a proactive team player with a proven track record of driving excellence in HR practice. The role’s primary focus is the HR needs within the Rochester, NY office, and will report to our Head of HR and Operations in Tel Aviv, Israel. We are open to hybrid 3-4 days a week in office, seeking local candidates to Rochester, NY only.

How You’ll Spend Your Time

What you will do:

  • Create and lead all office HR functions; employee relations, benefits, performance management and assist with the implementation process of new policies
  • Administer benefits programs and leave policies while maintaining accurate records
  • Address employee issues and provide guidance to both employees and managers
  • Partner with site managers to create employee corrective action policies that align with business needs and provide consistent and fair treatment to employees
  • Serve as a resource for employees and answer general HR questions
  • Maintain awareness of and ensure adherence to federal, state, and local labor laws and regulations
  • Conduct exit interviews to gather information about the reasons for employee departures
  • Document the termination process, including providing necessary paperwork and ensuring compliance with all relevant regulations
  • Maintain workplace privacy, HR files, and HRIS data entry
  • Work with recruiting to complete onboarding and hiring docs for new hires

Office Administration:

  • Oversee daily office operations, ensuring a clean, organized, and efficient work environment
  • Manage office supplies, inventory, and vendor relationships
  • Plan and coordinate company meetings, events, and out-of-town visitor accommodations
  • Lead people-first initiatives related to employee experience, welfare and appreciation
  • Plan and coordinate company meetings, events, and support needs of out of town visitors

Ideal Skills and Experience:

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills (verbal and written)
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, HRIS, and payroll systems
  • Excellent organizational and multitasking abilities
  • Ability to handle confidential information with discretion
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills
  • SHRM-CP certification is a plus
  • Experience in a growing office and/or startup company is preferred

Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business, Communication or a related field
  • 3+ years of experience in an HR Generalist or HR Associate role
  • Strong understanding of NY, Federal, labor laws, workplace safety
  • Experience with administering FMLA, NYS Disability, NYS Paid Family Leave, and NYS Paid & Sick Leave
