Job Description Summary

Information Systems & Computing (ISC) is the University of Pennsylvania’s central IT organization, providing core network, data, voice, video and enterprise application infrastructure and services upon which Penn’s Schools and Centers build their unique tools and capabilities. ISC’s 300‑plus employees work closely with the University’s IT organizations to create, deliver and support products and services that help Schools and Centers operate efficiently and effectively. We aim to be easy to work with and serve as a trusted advisor to Penn’s IT community, faculty, staff, and students.

Job Responsibilities
  • Coordinated Talent Acquisition life‑cycle process, serving as the centralized intake for requisition requests; consulted with hiring managers, scoped roles, ensured selection panels were established, and guided effective and compliant selection processes.
  • Managed onboarding and orientation, administering ISC’s orientation and onboarding processes and programs.
  • Entered and maintained employment records in Workday, covering hiring, terminations, organizational changes, transfers and promotions.
  • Advised on employee HR inquiries and concerns, providing guidance to management and staff regarding university HR policies and procedures.
  • Supported employee relations, addressing work complaints, assisting with unemployment inquiries, reviewing exit interview data, and partnering with the HR team on next steps.
  • Supported compliance and reporting, including annual compliance training and Workday compliance, and prepared various HR metrics reports and standard operating procedures.
  • Engaged in and assisted with employee‑focused initiatives, programs, talent management and continuous improvement efforts.
  • Performed other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Qualifications – Required
  • Bachelor’s degree and 2–3 years of experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Proficiency in Workday, including managing employee records, processing HR transactions, data analytics and reporting.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to build relationships across teams.
  • Ability to exercise sound judgement and discretion with confidential information.
  • Proven track record of initiating HR projects that improved employee engagement, compliance or operational efficiency.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
Qualifications – Preferred
  • Previous HR experience in talent acquisition, preferably in the IT field.
  • Experience in an academic environment.
  • Experience with hybrid culture and engagement initiatives.
  • Problem‑solving skills and ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Knowledge of employment law.
  • PHR/SHRM‑CP, SPHR/SHRM‑SCP certification.
