Overview
The Human Resource Generalist is responsible for maintaining and enhancing the organization's human resources function by planning, implementing, and evaluating human resources policies, programs, and practices.
Essential Job Responsibilities
- Leads daily recruitment functions for the Agency including job posting, assessments, interviewing, counseling managers on candidate selection and finalizing candidate offers.
- Collaborates with department managers to identify and draft detailed job descriptions, job postings and hiring criteria. Communicates with manager regularly on hiring needs and candidate pipeline.
- Plans, executes, and facilitates new employee onboarding.
- Facilitates new employee training, and development with management team.
- Oversees employee compensation and coordinates compensation changes to payroll.
- Educates existing employees and new employees on Hummel Groups benefits offerings. Participates in the annual open enrollment process.
- Completes special projects and administrative tasks to support the efficiency of the department and Agency overall.
- Ensures legal compliance by monitoring and implementing applicable human resource federal and state requirements; conducting investigations; maintaining records; representing the organization at hearings.
- Suggets and participates in efforts or projects to improve engagement and culture within the Agency.
- Prepares, updates, and monitors human resource handbook, policies, and procedures.
- Maintains organizational structure by updating job requirements and job descriptions and pay ranges periodically for all positions.
- Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills, and Ability
- Excellent knowledge of human resource field.
- Excellent personal and communication skills, able to relate to all different personality types.
- Ability to confront and resolve conflict.
- Ability to interact with employees at all levels of Hummel Group.
- Working knowledge of computer software packages including Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook programs.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to learn and perform new duties and responsibilities.
- Ability to travel offsite and to other offices as needed.
Education/Experience
- Bachelor’s or Associate degree is required.
- Prior work experience (2-5 years) in a Human Resource role is desired.
- Requires current driver’s license.
- Must be working towards industry designations within two years of employment. (SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP, PHR, SPHR)
Working Environment / Physical Activities
- General office work environment.
- Ability to drive to other office locations and professional events offsite.
- Remote worksite is available with advance arrangements with Leadership.
- Requires regular use of arms, hands, and fingers.
- Frequently required to sit for extended periods of time, reach with arm and hands, stand, walk, stoop, talk and hear.
- Required to lift and/or move up to 10 pounds.

This position may have access to Protected Health Information (PHI) and Electronic Protected Health Information (ePHI). Employees will be responsible for following guidelines of the HIPAA Confidentiality Agreement.
