Job summary

PENN Entertainment is seeking an HR Generalist to partner with HR leaders, support recruiting efforts, conduct investigations, and drive HR programs at our Detroit-area property.

The role emphasizes legal compliance, training delivery, data analysis, and employee engagement while maintaining strict confidentiality and professional standards.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in business administration, HR, or other relevant degree; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • PHR certification preferred.
  • 2-5 years of HR experience; labor environment with union contracts preferred.
  • Proficient with MS Office software (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook); iCiMS and Ultipro experience a plus.
  • Ability to work with various levels of the organization to influence culture.
  • Excellent organizational, presentation, and communication skills.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of state, local, and federal labor laws and regulations related to HR.

Responsibilities

  • Partners with HR Business Partners to meet the needs of departments within the business unit.
  • Supports internal and external recruitment efforts for the property.
  • Conducts investigations in cases of grievances, harassment, employee concerns, or EEOC issues.
  • Conducts exit interviews, records feedback, and reports patterns to management.
  • Assists in handling unemployment compensation claims.
  • Facilitates training programs, including New Hire Orientation, Customer Service, and Responsible Gaming/Alcohol Awareness.
  • Provides HR policy guidance and interpretation consistent with policies, statutes, and collective bargaining agreements.
  • Attends training and meetings as required.
  • Collects and analyzes HR data to identify turnover, engagement, and leadership opportunities.
  • Assists with engagement, wellness, and retention events; maintains confidentiality.
  • Ensures compliance with regulatory requirements; reports issues to management; performs other duties as assigned.

Essential Functions
  • Partners with HR Business Partners to meet the needs of departments within the business unit.
  • Supports the internal and external recruitment efforts for the property.
  • Conducts effective, thorough, and objective investigations in cases of grievances, harassment, employee concerns, or EEOC issues.
  • Conducts exit interviews, records feedback/dialog, and reports patterns to management.
  • Assists in the handling of unemployment compensation claims.
  • Facilitates identified training programs for the property, including but not limited to New Hire Orientation, Customer Service, Responsible Gaming/Alcohol Awareness
  • Provides HR Policy guidance and interpretation consistent with Core and Local policies, State and Federal statutes, and collective bargaining agreements, where applicable.
  • Attend training and meetings, as required.
  • Collects, analyzes, and looks for trends in human resources data to make suggestions relating to HR strategy- turnover, engagement, and leadership opportunities.
  • Assists and participates with the design and execution of engagement, wellness, and retention events.
  • Enthusiastically supports, actively promotes, and demonstrates superior customer service in accordance with department and company standards and programs. Maintains strict confidentiality in all departmental and company matters.
  • Responds to all requests and communication in a timely manner. Responsible for ensuring compliance with all regulatory compliance within the area of responsibility and reporting potential issues to management. Other duties as assigned.

  • Previous experience working in a labor environment with union contracts preferred.
  • Proficient computer skills, including MS Office software (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Outlook); iCiMS and Ultipro experience a plus
  • Ability to work with various levels of the organization to develop and influence the culture.
  • Highly effective communication and negotiation skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills, presentation skills, and ability to work independently and collaboratively.
  • Exceptional customer service focuses on producing quality results.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of state, local, and federal labor laws and regulations related to HR.
  • Working flexible hours, including holidays, nights, and weekend hours as business needs dictate
LANGUAGE SKILLS:

Ability to read and interpret documents in English, such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to read and communicate verbally in English. Written communication skills in English may also be required.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume, and distance. Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest,
