Webster Dental Care, headquartered in Chicago, seeks a Human Resources Generalist to support recruiting, benefits, performance, training, and regulatory compliance.

The role reports to the Controller and will oversee payroll in Paylocity, onboarding, HRIS maintenance, and employee-relations initiatives across eight practices in the Chicagoland area.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in HR, business, or related field.
  • PHR, SPHR, or SHRM-CP certification is a plus.
  • Proven HR experience in an HR department.
  • Strong ethics and confidentiality.
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills.

Responsibilities

  • Recruit and interview candidates; collaborate with practice managers.
  • Coordinate new-hire orientation and onboarding.
  • Maintain Paylocity HRIS data accuracy and audits.
  • Provide HR advisory support on absence, discipline, change, and employee relations.
  • Support policy development and handbook updates.
  • Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.
  • Assist HR projects and other duties as assigned.

Roles and Responsibilities

The Human Resources Generalist provides support, knowledge, and expertise to the Human Resources department through broad application of general HR responsibilities, including recruiting, benefits administration, performance management, training, and regulatory compliance. This role delivers value-added service to management and employees that reflects the business objectives of the organization. Duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Recruits, interviews and facilitates the hiring of qualified candidates for open positions; collaborates with practice managers to understand the skills and competencies required for open positions
  • Prepare new hire orientation program and execute a smooth new-hire onboarding process, coordinating across departments to deliver an exceptional first-day experience
  • Maintain the HRIS system, Paylocity, including data entry and audits for accuracy and compliance
  • Provide a dedicated and effective HR advisory service to employees that covers absence and health issues, conduct and capability, grievances, organizational change, and all other employee-relations matters
  • Process payroll semi-monthly using Paylocity – includes timely updates to employee files, bonus/incentive pay, vacation/sick pay, expense reimbursements, hourly-employee validations, and benefits changes
  • Assist in the communication, interpretation, and upkeep of employee handbook, employee directory, and organizational chart, and contribute to policy development
  • Supports compliance with all local, state, and federal legal and regulatory requirements.
  • Assist in HR projects and initiatives as needed
  • Other duties as assigned
Requirements
Required Qualifications and Skills
  • Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in human resources, business, or related field
  • PHR, SPRH, or SHRM-CP Certification(s) a plus
  • Proven success working in an HR department
  • Ability to handle data with confidentiality and strong ethics
  • Resourceful mindset with strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills
  • Exceptional organizational and time management skills
Preferred Qualifications and Skills
  • Proficiency in Paylocity software
  • Experience working in dental or healthcare organizations
Work Environment

Work will be completed primarily in an office setting
