Job summary

Horne Heating and Air Conditioning Inc. in Charlotte, NC is seeking a Human Resources Generalist to support employees and leaders across the organization. This full-time role covers recruiting, onboarding, employee relations, benefits administration, and engagement in day-to-day HR operations.

You will partner with leadership to strengthen workplace culture, ensure legal compliance, manage Paylocity HRIS, and drive performance and development initiatives for our growing team.

Qualifications

• Three or more years of HR Generalist experience.
• Strong knowledge of employment laws and compliance.
• Experience with recruiting, onboarding, employee relations and benefits administration.
• Experience using Paylocity HRIS preferred.

Responsibilities

• Serve as a primary HR resource for employees and managers.
• Support employee relations by providing guidance, coaching, and problem resolution.
• Coordinate recruiting, interviewing, hiring, onboarding, and offboarding activities.
• Administer employee benefits and assist employees with benefits questions.
• Maintain employee records and HR reporting through Paylocity.
• Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws.
• Assist with performance management and employee development initiatives.
• Help facilitate annual employee check-ins and engagement efforts.
• Support leadership with hiring best practices and interview coordination.
• Coordinate employee appreciation events and community involvement activities.
• Build relationships with local trade schools and workforce development partners.

What You'll Do

• Serve as a primary HR resource for employees and managers
• Support employee relations by providing guidance, coaching, and problem resolution
• Coordinate recruiting, interviewing, hiring, onboarding, and offboarding activities
• Administer employee benefits and assist employees with benefit-related questions
• Maintain employee records and HR reporting through Paylocity
• Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws
• Assist with performance management processes and employee development initiatives
• Help facilitate annual employee check-ins and engagement efforts
• Support leadership with hiring best practices and interview coordination
• Coordinate employee appreciation events, recognition programs, and community involvement activities
• Build relationships with local trade schools and workforce development partners to support recruiting
• Participate in occasional technician ride-alongs to better understand field operations and company culture

What We're Looking For

• Three or more years of Human Resources experience in a Generalist or similar HR role
• Strong knowledge of employment laws, HR best practices, and compliance
• Experience with recruiting, onboarding, employee relations, and benefits administration
• Experience supporting managers with employee performance and workplace concerns
• Experience using HRIS systems, with Paylocity experience preferred
• Excellent communication, organization, and problem-solving skills
• High level of professionalism, confidentiality, and integrity
• SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP, PHR, or SPHR certification is a plus
• Experience in HVAC, construction, plumbing, home services, or another skilled trades industry is preferred
