Job description

Helix Linear Technologies designs and manufactures high-precision motion control systems for industries

where performance matters most, including aerospace, medical devices, defense, and advanced

automation. Our products power mission-critical applications where reliability and precision down to

±0.0001 inches make all the difference.

Our vision is to engineer what's possible in motion, with precision, integrity, and purpose. We pursue that vision by designing, machining, grinding, and assembling critical motion components in-house, including precision ball screws and linear systems. Our clean, climate-controlled facility is equipped with advanced manufacturing equipment including Citizen Swiss lathes, multi-axis CNC mills, precision grinders, and specialized assembly and test systems.

Helix is growing and investing in people, new equipment, advanced processes, and the systems required to grow and scale the company. As we expand, we're building a world-class precision manufacturing operation, which means higher standards for ownership, communication and collaboration across every role.

About the Position

The HR Generalist owns day-to-day people operations at Helix, recruiting, onboarding, employee

relations, benefits, compliance, and employee experience, while supporting training records and culture

programming. This role acts as a support function to the business: building the process, setting

expectations, and holding managers accountable to their part, not doing the work for them.

You'll inherit established systems and playbooks. Some you'll run as-is. Others you'll improve. And as

Helix grows, you'll help design new systems where none exist yet. This is a hands-on role for someone

who wants to build, not just maintain.

Responsibilities

  • Own the full recruiting cycle: postings, screening calls, interview coordination, offer letters, and background/drug screen tracking, following Helix's structured hiring process
  • Own the onboarding process and structure, set expectations with hiring managers on their role in onboarding, and hold them accountable for completing their part on time
  • Manage onboarding/offboarding logistics, including I-9 and employment eligibility compliance, exit documentation, and final pay/COBRA processing

Training Development

  • Maintain the training tracking system and ensure HR practices align with AS9100 quality standards
  • Set training expectations with department leads, and hold managers accountable for ensuring their team's training stays current
  • Coordinate ongoing training updates in Paylocity and through outside partners (e.g., Greater Cleveland Safety Council)

Benefits & Wellness

  • Administer annual medical benefit enrollment and open enrollment processes
  • Manage supplemental benefits enrollment (e.g., AFLAC) and track new employee benefit eligibility dates
  • Support employees with benefits questions

Compliance & Safety

  • Participate in Safety Council meetings and support OSHA reporting in partnership with the CFO
  • Track and coordinate FMLA and leave of absence requests
  • Maintain required labor law postings and support employee handbook updates
  • Maintain HRIS records, employee files, and required documentation

Performance Management & Employee Relations

  • Serve as a trusted resource for employees and managers, answering questions, coaching on people issues, and resolving workplace concerns
  • Coordinate the performance review cycle, scheduling, reminders, and documentation
  • Support compensation administration, including entering approved offers and pay changes

Employee Experience & Culture

  • Deploy and administer the employee engagement survey, including scheduling, reminders, and compiling results
  • Plan and run company events: town halls, holiday parties, recognition events, and other team
  • activities

What You Bring

  • 3-5+ years in HR generalist or HR operations roles, ideally in manufacturing or industrial environments
  • Comfortable navigating HRIS and ATS platforms
  • Experience recruiting: sourcing, screening calls, interview coordination
  • Working knowledge of employment law and compliance areas such as I-9, FMLA, and workers & compensation
  • An avid learner who picks up new tools and technology quickly to make processes more efficient
  • A willingness to take on a range of tasks to get the job done, from compliance documentation to ordering lunch and setting up for a town hall

Who You Are

  • A people person, approachable, builds trust easily across all levels of the organization
  • Detail-oriented with strong follow-through
  • A self-starter and problem solver who enjoys building and improving processes
  • Comfortable using AI and other tools to streamline work and improve the employee experience
  • Thrives in high-growth, fast-paced environments, stays calm in chaos, treats problems as learning opportunities, and acts on impact instead of waiting to be told what to do
  • Builds relationships and communicates effectively at every level, from the shop floor to the executive team, this isn't a fit for someone who wants repetitive, clearly defined tasks handed to them each day

What Success Looks Like

  • Open roles are filled within target timelines, following Helix's hiring process
  • New hires have a positive onboarding experience, complete onboarding milestones, and hit 90-day review targets
  • Training across all roles and departments is documented and kept up to date
  • Compliance requirements (I-9, FMLA, OSHA, labor law postings) are met consistently and on time
  • Employees feel supported by HR and know who to go to with questions or concerns
  • Engagement survey participation and scores improve over time
  • Benefits enrollments and pay changes are processed accurately and on time
