Job summary

Eddy Foods Inc. is seeking a Director of Human Resources to provide strategic and operational leadership for the HR function.

You will guide talent acquisition, employee relations, compensation and benefits, payroll, training, HRIS, compliance, and records management while partnering with senior leadership to align HR with business goals. The role may be based in Yoakum, Texas, or Greenwood, South Carolina, and includes travel up to 25% to support multiple company locations and initiatives.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in HR, Business Administration, Operations, Organizational Leadership, or related field.
  • Seven to ten years of progressive Human Resources experience, including significant HR generalist and employee relations experience.
  • Minimum of three years of HR leadership experience, including leading HR professionals or teams.
  • Experience in manufacturing, distribution, or other operational environments preferred.
  • Food manufacturing experience preferred.
  • Bilingual English/Spanish strongly preferred.
  • SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP, PHR, or SPHR certification preferred.

Job Purpose

The Director of Human Resources provides strategic and operational leadership for the organization’s Human Resources function. This position leads and develops the teams responsible for talent acquisition, employee relations, compensation and benefits, payroll and HR administration, training and development, HRIS and records management, compliance, and other people-related programs.

The Director partners closely with senior leadership and operational leaders to develop and execute HR strategies that support business objectives, strengthen organizational effectiveness, develop leaders, improve employee engagement and retention, and ensure consistent and compliant HR practices across the organization.

This position may be based in either Yoakum, Texas, or Greenwood, South Carolina, with travel of up to 25% to support company locations, leadership meetings, and organizational initiatives.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
HR Leadership & Strategy
  • Provides leadership, direction, and oversight to Human Resources teams responsible for the delivery of HR programs, services, and employee support.
  • Develops and executes HR strategies aligned with organizational goals, operational priorities, and workforce needs.
  • Serves as a strategic advisor to senior leadership and management on organizational, workforce, employee relations, and people-related matters.
  • Establishes priorities, expectations, service standards, and accountability across the HR function.
  • Develops HR team members through coaching, mentoring, performance management, and succession planning.
  • Evaluates HR processes, organizational needs, and service delivery models and implements improvements that increase effectiveness and efficiency.
Employee & Labor Relations
  • Provides leadership and oversight for employee relations activities, including investigations, corrective action, performance management, conflict resolution, complaints, and workplace concerns.
  • Coaches leaders and managers on effective employee management, communication, performance expectations, and consistent application of company policies.
  • Oversees complex or high-risk employee relations matters and ensures appropriate documentation and resolution.
  • Identifies employee relations trends and develops proactive solutions to improve retention, engagement, leadership effectiveness, and workplace culture.
  • Ensures consistent and equitable application of company policies and employment practices.
Talent Acquisition & Workforce Planning
  • Provides strategic oversight of recruiting, staffing, onboarding, and workforce planning activities.
  • Partners with operational leaders to anticipate staffing needs and develop effective recruiting and retention strategies.
  • Evaluates workforce trends, turnover, staffing levels, and other workforce metrics to identify risks and opportunities.
  • Ensures hiring and employment practices support operational needs while maintaining compliance and consistency.
Compensation, Benefits & HR Administration
  • Oversees teams responsible for compensation administration, health and welfare benefits, payroll-related HR processes, personnel transactions, HR records, and employee data.
  • Ensures HR administrative processes are accurate, timely, compliant, and appropriately controlled.
  • Partners with leadership to evaluate compensation practices, job structures, and workforce programs.
  • Provides oversight of HRIS systems and HR data integrity, including ADP or other applicable HR platforms.
  • Ensures appropriate records retention and confidentiality of employee and organizational information.
Training, Development & Organizational Effectiveness
  • Provides leadership and oversight for employee and management training and development programs.
  • Identifies organizational and leadership development needs and implements programs designed to strengthen management capability.
  • Supports succession planning, talent development, career progression, and organizational planning.
  • Develops and supports initiatives designed to improve employee engagement, retention, communication, and organizational culture.
  • Partners with leaders to identify performance gaps and develop sustainable solutions.
Compliance & Risk Management
  • Ensures compliance with applicable federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations.
  • Monitors existing and emerging employment legislation and advises leadership regarding potential organizational impact and required actions.
  • Oversees HR policies, procedures, practices, and documentation to ensure legal compliance and organizational consistency.
  • Partners with leadership and legal counsel, as appropriate, on complex employment matters.
  • Protects confidential and sensitive employee and organizational information.
  • Identifies potential HR-related risks and recommends appropriate corrective or preventive actions.
  • Establishes and monitors key HR metrics, including turnover, retention, staffing, absenteeism, employee relations trends, recruiting effectiveness, and other workforce indicators.
  • Analyzes HR and workforce data to identify trends, risks, root causes, and opportunities for improvement.
  • Prepares and presents HR reports, recommendations, and workforce insights to senior leadership.
  • Leads special projects and organizational initiatives by establishing objectives, timelines, responsibilities, and measures of success.
  • Continuously evaluates HR programs and processes to improve efficiency, employee experience, compliance, and business results.
Education & Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Operations, Organizational Leadership, or related field required.
  • Seven to ten years of progressive Human Resources experience, including significant HR generalist and employee relations experience.
  • Minimum of three years of HR leadership experience, including responsibility for leading HR professionals or HR teams.
  • Experience supporting manufacturing, distribution, or other operational environments strongly preferred.

The Director of Human Resources will operate as both a strategic business partner and an engaged, hands-on HR leader. This role requires the ability to move comfortably between executive-level strategy and the realities of day-to-day operations while developing and empowering HR team members to effectively manage their respective areas of responsibility.

The successful candidate will demonstrate strong judgment, integrity, accountability, business acumen, and the ability to establish trusted relationships at all levels of the organization. The Director must balance employee advocacy with business and operational needs while ensuring fair, consistent, and legally compliant employment practices.

Position Requirements

This is an in-office position and may be based at the company's Yoakum, Texas, or Greenwood, South Carolina location.

The position requires the ability to travel up to 25%, including travel to other company locations as business needs require.

The position is bonus eligible. Base salary will be determined based on the successful candidate's experience, qualifications, and other relevant factors.
