Job Description :

The New York Post Human Resources team is a strategic, hands-on group that partners closely with leaders across one of the country's most iconic and influential media brands. We thrive in a fast-paced, high-performance environment where no two days are the same, and where our work directly impacts the success of the business.

We value directness, speed, accountability, and collaboration, while leading with respect, trust, and empathy. As true business partners, we balance employee advocacy with commercial outcomes and play a critical role in attracting, developing, and retaining exceptional talent across the organization. If you're energized by solving complex people challenges and influencing business strategy, you'll feel right at home.

The New York Post is seeking an HR Director based in New York City. This is a highly visible, high-impact opportunity supporting senior leaders across our newsroom and commercial organizations, helping shape the people strategy behind one of the most recognizable names in media.

Reporting directly to the Chief Human Resources Officer, you'll serve as a trusted advisor to executives, senior leaders, and employees, driving organizational effectiveness, talent strategy, employee engagement, leadership development, and culture. You'll have a seat at the table on key business decisions, partnering with leaders to navigate change, build high-performing teams, and foster an environment where people can do their best work.

Success in this role requires sound judgment, confidence influencing at all levels, and the ability to navigate complexity with agility. You'll combine strategic thinking with a pragmatic, roll-up-your-sleeves approach, delivering thoughtful, practical solutions in a fast-moving, deadline-driven environment. You'll also collaborate closely with News Corp HR colleagues to leverage best practices while ensuring solutions are tailored to the unique needs of the New York Post.

WHAT YOU'LL DO
  • Serve as a strategic People Business Partner to senior leaders and employees, aligning people strategies with the New York Post's editorial, commercial, and digital priorities.
  • Develop a deep understanding of the business and advise leaders on organizational design, workforce planning, leadership effectiveness, change management, and succession planning.
  • Mentor and manage two HR Business Partners supporting the East and West Coasts, ensuring alignment, consistency in our approach, and compliance with company policies and employment practices.
  • Partner with leaders to strengthen employee engagement, performance management, talent development, and career growth within high-performing, deadline-driven teams.
  • Navigate complex employee relations matters, including investigations, performance management, workplace conflict, and sensitive employee issues with sound judgment, fairness, and discretion.
  • Leverage workforce data, analytics, and insights to identify trends, inform decisions, and drive meaningful business outcomes.
  • Champion transparent communication, accountability, and an inclusive, high-performing culture where employees are empowered to succeed.
  • Identify opportunities to improve HR processes and embrace innovative technologies, including AI tools, to enhance efficiency and the employee experience.
  • Partner cross-functionally with HR Centers of Excellence and News Corp colleagues to deliver consistent, high-quality people solutions across the organization.
WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR
  • A strategic and credible HR leader who connects people strategies to business objectives and consistently delivers results.
  • A trusted advisor who can influence, coach, and challenge senior leaders while building strong relationships across all levels of the organization.
  • Someone who thrives in a fast-paced, evolving environment and is comfortable making thoughtful decisions amid ambiguity.
  • A direct, transparent communicator who leads with integrity, assumes positive intent, and isn't afraid to have difficult conversations.
  • A proactive, resilient, and solutions-oriented professional who exercises sound judgment and knows when to elevate complex issues.
  • A collaborative teammate who contributes to a culture of excellence, innovation, trust, and shared success.
WHAT YOU HAVE
  • 8+ years of progressive Human Resources experience, including 3+ years in a senior HR Business Partner or comparable client-facing role.
  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business, Psychology, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • Experience supporting high-performing, fast-paced organizations, ideally within media, digital, creative, commercial, sales, or similarly dynamic environments.
  • Strong expertise in employee relations, workplace investigations, performance management, and employment law.
  • Demonstrated success balancing business partnership with employee advocacy while driving organizational goals.
  • Experience working within large, complex, or matrixed organizations.
  • Exceptional coaching, influencing, and relationship-building skills with leaders at all levels.
  • A data-driven mindset with experience using workforce insights to shape strategy and measure success.
  • The ability to remain calm, decisive, and effective while managing competing priorities and high-stakes situations.
