Job summary

Quanex in St. Cloud, Minnesota is seeking a Division Human Resources Director to lead all HR aspects for the Quanex Custom Components division across multiple US locations.

You will partner with division leadership to deliver organizational development, employee relations, performance management, training, safety, workers’ compensation, legal compliance, and talent management. Qualifications

  • 10+ years of progressive leadership experience in Human Resources.
  • Multi-site and multi-state management experience.
  • Expertise in employment law, organizational design, leadership development, succession planning, change management, and employee relations.
  • Proven track record as a mentor and leader developer.
  • Willingness to travel to field locations across the US up to 30-50%.

Responsibilities

  • Partner with the division President and leadership to drive HR initiatives.
  • Assess talent as part of year‑round talent management strategies and succession planning.
  • Ensure plants are staffed, driven retention metrics, and partnered with division leadership on staffing challenges.
  • Act as a business partner and internal coach to supervisors and leaders.
  • Lead 5–12 HR reports and oversee HR programs across all regions.
  • Advance culture evolution, employee engagement, and growth opportunities.

Job description

Quanex is seeking a Division Human Resources Director to join our team in St. Cloud, Minnesota.

The Division Human Resources Director is responsible for leading all aspects of Human Resources for the Quanex Custom Components division of Quanex Building Products. The successful individual will lead in a manner that fully integrates the HR function into the organizations’ business operations throughout multiple locations in the US. As a trusted and confidential advisor, the Division HR Director will partner with the division leadership team to lead and manage the delivery of human resources on matters relating to organizational development, employee relations, performance management, training, safety, workers’ compensation, legal compliance, and talent management.

What Success Looks Like:

  • Partner with the division President, division leadership, and individual locations to ensure company strategic initiatives and culture are being demonstrated and driven by leadership, surfacing any gaps and resolving them directly.
  • Assess talent as part of broader year‑round talent management strategies.
  • Partner with the Talent Acquisition team, ensure plants are adequately staffed, including driving strong employee retention, tracking recruitment and retention metrics, and partnering with division leadership on addressing staffing challenges.
  • Act as both a business partner and internal coach to supervisors and leadership.
  • Lead 5-12 direct or indirect reports in the Human Resources department.
  • Execute strategies that will help expand the knowledge and effectiveness of people to accomplish and exceed business goals.
  • Ensure the appropriate level, quality, and effectiveness of HR programs and services provided across all regions of the division.
  • Help evolve the company's culture and values, including driving employee engagement to enable a high‑performing workforce that contributes to strategic growth and profitability.
  • Assist in leading organizational alignment and any appropriate structures to enhance the company's growth opportunities and objectives.
  • Ensure consistent, timely, and accurate application and compliance with applicable state and federal employment laws and regulations.

What You Bring:

  • 10+ years of progressive leadership experience in Human Resources positions.
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Human Resources Management or a related field required. Masters degree and/or HR certification preferred.
  • Multi‑site and multi‑state management experience.
  • Expertise in a broad range of topics including employment law, organizational design and effectiveness, leadership development, succession planning, change management, culture assessment, employee/labor relations, and workers comp.
  • Proven track record on being a successful mentor and developer of leaders.
  • Proven track record on being equally effective and credible in building relationships and communicating across the spectrum of constituents.
  • Experience managing and helping to build a culture across multiple locations.
  • Willingness to travel to field locations across the US up to 30-50%

The salary range for this position is $150,000 to $180,000 with bonus potential.
