Job summary

Quanex is seeking a Senior Buyer to join our team in Rice Lake, WI. You will manage procurement of raw materials, packaging, MRO and services, and oversee supplier management with a focus on cost, quality, and delivery.

Coordinate with Operations on ERP-driven requirements to ensure material availability and price visibility, while negotiating favorable terms with suppliers and maintaining sourcing metrics.

Qualifications

• Must have 5-7 years of manufacturing or related purchasing experience.
• Strong conflict resolution skills are required.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills are essential across all levels of the organization.

Responsibilities

• Analyze and execute procurement of raw materials, packaging, MRO, freight and related services, including bidding and supplier management.
• Analyze global market developments for key commodities and develop strategic plans to mitigate risks and leverage opportunities.
• Coordinate with Operations on ERP-driven requirements to ensure material availability, price visibility and inventory compliance.
• Coordinate with internal customers on sourcing non-ERP requirements to ensure best value and meet customer needs.
• Negotiate and maintain all supplier terms and agreements in line with SOX guidelines.
• Manage on-time deliveries from suppliers and track sourcing metrics.

What Success Looks Like:

• Analyze and execute all aspects of the procurement of raw materials, packaging, MRO, freight and associated services to include competitive bidding, source selection, purchase order creation, and supplier management.
• Analyze global market developments for key commodities and develop strategic plans to mitigate adverse effects and take advantage of positive developments.
• Coordinate with Operations on ERP driven requirements to ensure material availability, price/cost visibility and assure compliance with inventory guidelines.
• Coordinate with internal customers on the sourcing and purchase of non-ERP requirements to assure best value for Quanex while meeting customer needs.
• Negotiate and maintain all terms and agreements with suppliers while adhering to Quanex and SOX guidelines.
• Manage on-time deliveries from suppliers and maintain/distribute sourcing metrics.

Your Credentials:

• An associate degree in business is preferred.
• 5-7 years of manufacturing or related purchasing experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience to successfully perform the essential functions of the job.
• Must have demonstrated skills in conflict resolution.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills are essential to this position as they are responsible for sharing and receiving information from all levels of the organization.

The salary range for this position is $54,000 to $82,000 per year w/ bonus potential.
