Job summary

Confidential hospital in California seeks an experienced Human Resources Director to partner with the CEO and senior leadership, directing all HR operations in a complex, fast-paced healthcare environment.

The role leads workforce strategy, labor relations, regulatory compliance, employee engagement, retention, and organizational effectiveness while fostering accountability, collaboration, and service excellence across the organization.

Responsibilities

• Lead all Human Resources operations, strategy, and organizational initiatives.
• Partner with executive and operational leaders on workforce planning, recruitment, retention, and talent strategies.
• Provide executive oversight of union labor relations, including CBA interpretation, contract administration, labor negotiations, grievance strategy, and arbitration support.
• Ensure compliance with CDPH, CMS, The Joint Commission, OSHA, HIPAA, EEOC, California Labor Code, and applicable employment laws.
• Serve as HR leader during regulatory surveys, audits, and licensing reviews.
• Oversee compensation strategy, salary administration, market analysis, organizational design, and workforce planning.
• Lead employee relations, investigations, performance management, leadership coaching, workers' compensation, ADA accommodations, FMLA/CFRA, and leave administration.
• Drive employee engagement, succession planning, leadership development, retention strategies, and initiatives that improve both the employee and patient experience.

A well-established 350+ bed acute care hospital is conducting a confidential search for an experienced Human Resources Director. This executive leadership role partners closely with the CEO and senior leadership to lead all Human Resources operations within a complex, fast-paced healthcare environment.

The Human Resources Director will drive workforce strategy, labor relations, regulatory compliance, employee engagement, retention, and organizational effectiveness while fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, and service excellence.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead all Human Resources operations, strategy, and organizational initiatives.
• Partner with executive and operational leaders on position control, workforce planning, recruitment, retention, and talent strategies to support operational excellence and workforce stability.
• Provide executive oversight of union labor relations, including Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA) interpretation, contract administration, labor negotiations, grievance strategy, and arbitration support.
• Ensure compliance with California Department of Public Health (CDPH), CMS, The Joint Commission, OSHA, HIPAA, EEOC, California Labor Code, and all applicable employment laws.
• Serve as the Human Resources leader during regulatory surveys, audits, and licensing reviews.
