SUMMARY DESCRIPTION
Manages the day-to-day operations of the facility's HR office. The HR Coordinator administers HR policies, procedures, and programs including facility safety, and originates and leads HR practices that support an employee-oriented, high-performance culture.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES
- Develop and administer programs, procedures, and guidelines to align the workforce with strategic company goals.
- Participate in setting department goals, objectives, and systems; attend plant production and leadership meetings.
- Contribute to the company-wide organization development process covering succession planning, workforce development, employee retention, organization design, and change management.
- Communicate and obtain employee feedback through meetings, suggestion programs, surveys, newsletters, focus groups, one-on-one meetings, and the intranet.
- Monitor organizational culture to support company goals and promote employee satisfaction.
- Participate in company-wide committees such as wellness, training, environmental health & safety, activity, and culture & communications committees.
Human Resource Information Systems
- Maintain the Workday system; prepare and analyze reports necessary for departmental and company functions.
- Use Workday to its full advantage; complete hourly payroll weekly; maintain all vacation requests.
Training and Development
- Implement the performance management system, including PDPs and safety programs.
- Establish an in-house training system for new employee orientation, management development, cross-training, and safety, including training needs assessment and impact measurement.
- Select and contract external training programs and consultants; provide workshops, manuals, and standardized reports to managers and employees.
- Maintain employee training records.
Employment
- Manage the recruitment process for hourly employees using standard recruiting and hiring practices.
- Coordinate labor and recruiting planning meetings with plant management.
- Review resumes and coordinate interviews with plant management.
- Maintain relationships with temporary agencies.
Employee Relations
- Develop HR policies and partner with management to communicate policies, procedures, and legal requirements.
- Recommend practices to foster positive employee relations and high morale.
- Conduct investigations of employee complaints; advise managers on progressive discipline procedures.
- Implement company safety and health programs; track and post OSHA-required data and file reports.
Benefits
- Administer day-to-day benefits services and assist employees with claim issues.
- Develop and schedule benefits orientations and training.
- Administer disability and worker's compensation claims; recommend changes to enhance employee satisfaction and retention.
Law
- Comply with all government and labor legal reporting requirements, including EEO, ADA, FMLA, Workers Compensation, OSHA, and others.
- Maintain minimal company exposure to lawsuits; protect employee and company interests in line with HR policies and regulations.
Safety
- Maintain the Corporate Safety Manual and ensure site-specific programs are written and updated.
- Guarantee completion and documentation of all monthly safety training for all staff.
- Complete monthly safety statistics for the facility; actively promote a safety culture.
EDUCATION
Required: High School Diploma or GED
Preferred: Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources, Business or equivalent; PHR certification.
EXPERIENCE
Required: 3 years of HR experience
Preferred: 5 or more years of HR leadership experience
SKILLS
- General knowledge of employment laws and practices.
- Experience administering benefits and compensation programs.
- Advanced computer skills in a Microsoft Windows environment, including Excel and database management.
- Effective oral and written communication.
- Excellent interpersonal and coaching skills.
- High level of confidentiality.
- Excellent organizational skills.
