Goodwill of Central Iowa is seeking a Human Resources Coordinator to support our teams with recruitment, onboarding, and benefits administration. - Proficiency with Applicant Tracking & HR Information Systems and Microsoft Office suite including Outlook, Excel, Word, and Teams .
- Target compensation range: $19.00-$23.00 per hour dependent upon relevant years of experience.

The Human Resources Coordinator a reas of responsibility include recruitment, benefits, leave administration, onboarding, new hire training, human resources data reporting , and applicant tracking system coordination . This position will support the human resources department in several areas, perform ing a variety of human resources functions, and assisting with department projects . E ffectively compile, maintain and report confidential employee data in a Human Resources Information System (HRIS), personnel , or department records .

- Performs work duties within Goodwill of Central Iowa’s values of love, kindness, and respect.
- Partners with hiring managers on recruiting strategy ensuring strong applicant flow and timely hiring.
- Reviews applications, conduct pre-screen phone calls, and interview candidates.
- Assists in organizing and participates in GCI hiring events using best practices, building a strong employment brand in our communities.
- Extends offers to candidates, perform required background checks, communicate with offered candidates prior to hire date and following hire date to engage and welcome new hires.
- Coordinates employee benefits plans including health, dental, and vision insurance, 403(b) plan, life and other supplemental insurance plans and benefits;ensures plans are administered in compliance with federal and state regulations, including benefits reporting and billing.
- Facilitates new hire onboarding along with new hire process in HRIS and new employee orientations, ensures compliance with all applicable state and federal guidelines.
- Coordinates leave programs, disability insurance claims, and related processes.
- Assists with new hire benefits enrollment and annual open enrollment processes.
- Produces and provides recruiting and turnover reports as needed to support all departments.
- Assists in researching and compiling requested data for required internal, state and federal statistical reports, such as EEO-1.
- Receives employment-related inquiries, referring complex and/or sensitive matters to the appropriate management team member(s) as necessary.
- Occasional travel between all stores as needed to support and assist with recruiting, employee onboarding, new hire training, and team support.
- Compiles, records and maintains current HR files and databases while maintaining confidentiality. Records employee status and position changes.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in business administration, human resources or related field preferred.
- Minimum of one year experience working in Human Resources field.
- Excellent Microsoft Office skills including Outlook, Teams, Excel, and Word.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, ability to be flexible to adjust for unexpected situations.
- General knowledge of employment laws and practices.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail required along with ability to multi-task.
- Must be able to perform basic math.
- Access to reliable transportation for regular participation in work.
- Possession of valid Iowa driver license, a good driving record, insurable, and able to provide proof of personal vehicle insurance with a minimum of $100,000 per person and $300,000 per accident auto insurance liability coverage.
- Must be able to pass a criminal background check and a dependent adult and child abuse background check.
Preferred Skills:
- Previous experience with recruiting and employee onboarding preferred.
- Previous experience with benefits enrollment or benefits administration preferred.
- Ability to work effectively and productively with various departments, managers, and teams.
Physical Requirements:
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Must be able to lift 15 pounds at times.
- Must be able to access and navigate each department at the organization facilities.
