Job summary

Piedmont Community College (NC) is seeking an HR professional to maintain knowledge of trends, regulations, and technology in HR and talent management. You will serve as the employee relations contact post-hire and organize engagement activities, while managing HR reports and compliance training in a professional office setting.

Qualifications

  • Requires bachelor’s degree and 3+ years of experience in HR/employee relations.
  • Master’s degree preferred.
  • PHR/SPHR/PSHRA or SHRM certification preferred; NEOGOV/Colleague experience advantageous.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate onboarding for all staff including orientations and campus tours.
  • Prepare annual reports per federal/state requirements (IPEDS, OCR, BLS, Staff Information Report).
  • Maintain and update data in Colleague and NEOGOV; ensure compliance with HR procedures.
  • Provide personnel information and reports while maintaining confidentiality.
  • Manage ACA reporting via BenefitFocus for 1095-C generation annually.
  • Plan and implement Convocation, New Hire Onboard Cohort, and Institute for Leadership.
  • Coordinate Supervisor Training and Professional Development requests.
  • Track and evaluate employee performance (probationary and annual).
  • Maintain personnel files and comply with NC Records Retention schedules.
  • Monitor changes in laws/policies; advise on compliance and operations.

Job description

Job Summary

The purpose of this position is to maintain knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in human resources, talent management, employee engagement, employee relations, and employment law. This position is responsible for serving as the employee contact for employee relations after the point of hiring and organizing employee engagement activities for the HR department. Perform HR reports, manage the employee database, oversee the employee performance management system, and HR compliance training. This position operates in a professional office environment, requiring daily, in-person attendance.

Essential Duties
  • Coordinates and processes the onboarding of all full-time and part-time employees, including conducting new-hire orientations and campus tours that provide a welcoming, personalized, and engaging experience for new employees.
  • Prepares annual reports as directed by federal and state including IPEDS, OCR, and Bureau of Labor and Statistics, Staff Information Report.
  • Maintain and process employee data accurately and efficiently within Colleague and NEOGOV, ensuring timely updates and compliance with established HR procedures.
  • Gather and provide personnel-related information and reports in response to requests from internal departments and organizational stakeholders, ensuring confidentiality and compliance with established HR policies and procedures.
  • Manage ACA reporting processes through BenefitFocus (TPA) for 1095-C generation annually.
  • Developefficient and consistent processes within the HR Department.
  • Processes 1095Cs through NC SHP Benefit Focus System
  • Coordinates the planning and implementation of Convocation.
  • Coordinates the planning and implementation of the New Hire Onboard Cohort.
  • Coordinates the planning and implementation of the Institute for Leadership.
  • Coordinates the planning and implementation of Supervisor Training and requests Professional Development training.
  • Tracks employee evaluations, to include probationary evaluations as well as annual evaluations for both faculty and staff
  • Maintainpersonnel files and other HR related records in compliance with the NC Records Retention and Disposition Schedule.
  • Monitors changes in NCCC legislation, State Board codes, and institutional policies, assesses operational impacts, and recommends actions to maintain compliance and organizational effectiveness.
  • Manages FMLA,Paid Parental Leave (PPL), Unemployment, and Workers Compensation cases for the HR department
  • Assistemployees with retirement-related questions to the TSERS retirement process. Assists employees with the retirement application process as needed.
  • Conductsall employment verifications.
  • Conduct exit interviews for offboarding employees and coordinate with relevant departments to ensure all required employee property is returned, and system access is terminated by the employee’s last day of work.
  • Acts as a backup to part-time and full-time payroll as needed.
  • Acts as HR liaison for Professional Development Incentive Program
  • Serves as Title IX Deputy Coordinator to the Director, Human Resources & Organizational Development in conducting investigations and serves as a confidential resource for all employees within the College.

  • Works cooperatively with team members and colleagues, contributing positively and constructively to the achievement of team and College objectives.
  • Adheres to the College’s policies, procedures, and other established guidelines.
  • Performs other related duties to assist team as directed.

Minimum Qualifications

Education and Experience: Completion of a bachelor’s degree and three (3) years of comparable experience in human resources management/ employee relations. Master’s degree preferred.

Licenses and Certificates: PHR, SPHR, PSHRA or SHRM certification preferred.

Specialized Training: Experience with NEOGOV and Ellucian/Colleague preferred.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Knowledge of office equipment (computer, copier, fax, scanner, etc.).
  • Knowledge of organization and department operations, services, and policies.
  • Knowledge of general office procedures and protocols.
  • Knowledge of financial rules, regulations, laws, and procedures.
  • Skilled in Colleague and other HRIS
  • Skilled in Microsoft Office, including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing.
  • Ability to lift 15 lbs.
  • Ability to organize and prioritize tasks.
Physical Demands

This job requires frequently talking or hearing, occasionally standing, occasionally walking, occasionally reaching with hands and arms, occasionally gripping or feeling with hands; typing/repetitive movement, occasionally climbing or balancing, frequently stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling, occasionally tasting or smelling, continuously sitting. Occasionally is required to lift up to 15 pounds.

Working Conditions

Works primarily in an indoor office environment with typical office conditions, including prolonged periods of sitting, frequent use of computers and other office equipment, and regular interaction with employees and visitors.
