This role requires an HR professional who is comfortable navigating ambiguity, balancing strategic priorities with hands‑on execution, and building trusted relationships across multiple levels of the organization. In addition to assigned business partnership responsibilities, the HRBP will serve as a functional lead or subject matter expert for one or more People & Culture practice areas based on organizational needs and individual expertise. The selected candidate will be based out of our Lisle, IL, Germantown, MD, or Newark, NJ locations.

Responsibilities

This position includes but not limited to the following functions:

  • Business Partnership
    • Serve as the primary People & Culture partner for an assigned portfolio of business leaders and functions, developing a strong understanding of business objectives, workforce needs, and operational challenges.
    • Advise and coach leaders on people-related decisions, organizational effectiveness, employee engagement, talent management, and leadership effectiveness.
    • Partner with leaders to identify current and future workforce needs and provide guidance on organizational structure, role design, team effectiveness, and workforce transitions.
    • Build trusted relationships with leaders while appropriately challenging assumptions and providing objective, practical HR guidance.
  • Talent & Organizational Effectiveness
    • Support talent and succession planning, talent reviews, identification of critical roles and high‑potential employees, and development of succession pipelines.
    • Partner with leaders on employee development, career planning, internal mobility, and retention strategies.
    • Support performance management processes, including goal setting, performance reviews, calibration, coaching, and performance improvement.
    • Identify organizational capability gaps and use workforce data and insights to develop recommendations and solutions with business leaders.
  • Employee Relations
    • Provide guidance and coaching to managers on workplace concerns, performance issues, policy interpretation, corrective action, employee separations, and other employee relations matters.
    • Conduct or support workplace investigations involving employee complaints, concerns, policy violations, and other workplace matters.
    • Ensure employee relations matters are handled consistently, appropriately documented, and escalated when necessary.
    • Maintain awareness of applicable employment laws and regulatory requirements and partner with internal stakeholders and external employment counsel as appropriate.
  • Organizational Change & Integration
    • Support organizational change initiatives, restructures, workforce transitions, business integrations, and other transformation activities, including those resulting from mergers and acquisitions.
    • Partner with leaders to assess the people impact of organizational changes and develop practical implementation and communication strategies.
    • Support the integration of employees, teams, processes, and organizational practices while helping leaders navigate change and maintain employee engagement.
    • Identify opportunities to improve HR processes and employee experiences as the organization evolves.
  • Functional / SME Leadership
    • Serve as the People & Culture functional lead for one or more HR practice areas based on business needs and individual expertise, providing subject matter guidance within assigned areas.
    • Potential practice areas may include performance management, talent and succession planning, learning and leadership development, employee engagement and culture, workforce planning and organizational design, change management and integration, or HR analytics and workforce insights.
    • Develop tools, resources, processes, and recommended practices within assigned functional areas and promote consistent application across the organization.
    • Provide education, guidance, and support to managers and People & Culture colleagues within assigned areas of expertise.
  • People & Culture Collaboration
    • Partner with HR Operations, Talent Acquisition, Total Rewards, Payroll, HRIS, and other People & Culture functions to deliver an effective employee and manager experience.
    • Partner on compensation, promotion, workforce planning, and other people processes in collaboration with appropriate internal stakeholders.
    • Identify opportunities to improve HR programs, policies, processes, and manager self‑service capabilities.
    • Participate in broader People & Culture initiatives and projects and perform other related duties as required.
Qualifications

  • Minimum of 5 years of progressive Human Resources experience, including experience in an HR Business Partner, HR Manager, Senior HR Generalist, or comparable consultative role supporting business leaders.
