License and Certification Qualifications: Current professional HR certification issued by HRCI (PHR or SPHR), or SHRM (SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP) or CEBS designation preferred.
Education Qualifications: High school diploma or equivalent required. Bachelor's degree in related field preferred.
Experience Qualifications: Three years in an office/clerical environment required. Experience in human resources or compensation administration preferred.
Skills Qualifications: Ability to communicate with others in an effective and tactful manner; ability to exercise independent judgment, troubleshoot, and solve problems; accuracy with computation and employee data; ability to write routine correspondence and speak effectively when counseling employees; strong organizational skills and the ability to multitask in a high-volume processing environment; ability to work as part of a team; flexibility and adaptability to change; ability to represent Gwinnett County Public Schools in a positive and professional manner; strong computer skills with a working knowledge of Microsoft Office required; and knowledge of PeopleSoft preferred.
Primary Responsibilities: Provide assistance in the organization, coordination, and implementation of compensation functions within the Human Resources Division, through processing employee compensation and job information in PeopleSoft and assisting employees with compensation related inquiries.
1. Process employee personal data, compensation data, and job data in the PeopleSoft system in an accurate and timely manner.
a. Process all new hires/re-hires, job changes, hours changes, location changes, retirement plan changes, terminations/retirements, and returns from leave of absence.
b. Process all pay increases due to experience, certification, and/or education.
c. Process all transactions for hiring temporary/miscellaneous and contingent workers into the system of record.
2. Evaluate prior work experience and/or education to determine appropriate placement on salary schedule.
a. Evaluate experience and/or education to determine job relatedness and what salary credit, if any, can be granted.
b. Use Department of Education guidelines (certified) and established classified experience guidelines to ensure consistency in evaluation.
c. Conduct audits of employee experience as appropriate/when requested.
3. Provide assistance in the annual generating and deploying of returning employment contracts and issuance of contracts for new hires.
a. Assist the Director of Compensation, Clearance, and Employee Records in generating and deploying all contract recommendation lists and employment contracts.
b. Handle customer service inquiries concerning contracts of employment.
4. Process all employee department chair, sponsor, and coaching supplements in an accurate and timely manner.
a. Assist local schools with the annual page submission of eSupplement, as appropriate.
b. Work with the Business and Finance Division for payment processing.
c. Research, review, and respond to customer inquiries concerning employee department chair, sponsor, and coaching supplements.
5. Provide world-class customer service regarding compensation administration inquiries.
a. Assist with NEO (New Employee On-Boarding) sessions, sharing information about GCPS compensation guidelines.
b. Counsel employees on all compensation related topics.
c. Maintain and manage all incoming communication relating to compensation (i.e., experience verifications, transcripts, and employee affidavits).
d. Research, review, and respond to customer inquiries in an accurate and timely manner.
6. Perform other duties as assigned.
Physical Demands:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit for extended periods of time. The employee is also required to talk, hear, stand, and walk. The employee may be required to use hands to touch, handle, feel, and/or reach. The employee is occasionally required to stoop, kneel, or crouch. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
