Job Summary

The Human Resources Assistant provides critical support to the Human Resources department by performing a variety of administrative tasks related to payroll, benefits, recruitment, compliance, and employee relations. This role ensures timely and accurate payroll processing, assists with benefits administration, and supports the employee lifecycle from onboarding to offboarding. The position plays a key role in maintaining HR data integrity, coordinating regulatory reporting, and promoting a positive employee experience. Working closely with the Director of Human Resources, the HR Assistant helps ensure the organization remains compliant with applicable laws and aligned with company culture, values, and operational goals.

The Details of the Job

This position is between 30-40 hours per week, with occasional overtime. Our HR Team works Monday through Friday, typically between 8 am and 5 pm, but the hours can be somewhat flexible.

This is an ideal position for someone looking to grow in Human Resources. It is a hybrid role, requiring in-office work in Frisco, Vail, or Edwards 2-3 times per week.

Compensation

The starting wage for this position is $24.00 - $29.00/hour, based on experience.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Process company payroll accurately and in compliance with applicable laws and deadlines.
  • Review and resolve payroll discrepancies; manage wage garnishments and regulatory filings.
  • Collaborate with Accounting to complete payroll and benefits-related reports and filings.
  • Assist with benefits administration, including enrollments, changes, and terminations.
  • Support new hire onboarding by coordinating benefit documentation and materials.
  • Assist in developing and implementing talent acquisition strategies; post job openings and screen applicants.
  • Collect, maintain, and analyze HR metrics; provide insights to HR leadership.
  • Assist in resolving employee relations concerns with the Director of Human Resources.
  • Conduct monthly audits of payroll taxes and benefit payments for accuracy.
  • Promote and support a positive employee culture aligned with company values.
  • Maintain accurate employee records and ensure regulatory compliance.
  • Coordinate workers’ compensation reporting and documentation.
  • Administer and track leave requests (e.g., FMLA, medical leave).
  • Prepare quarterly and year-end government reports (e.g., DOL, FAMLI, Pinnacol).
  • Maintain confidentiality of personal and health information per HIPAA and OSHA standards.
  • Follow all safety procedures and policies.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Proficiency in Excel and Microsoft Office Suite, including Outlook.
  • Experience with Paylocity or similar HRIS/Payroll systems, or ability to learn quickly.
  • Strong relationship-building and communication skills.
  • Knowledge of HR best practices and relevant regulations; willingness to learn.
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills; ability to work independently.
  • Effective communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Attention to detail in record-keeping and calculations.
  • Ability to follow instructions and handle standardized situations.

Education, Experience, and Certifications

High School Diploma required.

At least 2 years of customer service, administrative, or human resources experience.
