HR Assistant – Join the Captain Jay’s Growing Team

Captain Jay’s is rapidly expanding and looking for a detail-oriented, proactive HR Assistant to support our Human Resources department. This role offers the opportunity to gain hands-on experience across all major areas of HR, including employee relations, recruitment, payroll, and compliance. Position Summary:

As an HR Assistant, you will support day-to-day HR operations, focusing on employee relations, payroll, compliance, and the hiring process. You will collaborate with leadership, team members, and external partners to align HR practices with company goals. This position is ideal for someone interested in growing within Human Resources.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Support recruitment, including phone screening and sourcing talent through various methods.
  2. Handle employee relations professionally and discreetly, including conflict resolution and disciplinary documentation.
  3. Assist with payroll processing, managing garnishments and tax payments.
  4. Collaborate on performance reviews and evaluations.
  5. Ensure compliance with labor laws and regulations.
  6. Assist with employee terminations and separations, maintaining professionalism and documentation.
  7. Conduct background checks and pre-employment screenings.
  8. Manage company property, including devices and email access.
  9. Provide administrative support and assist in developing HR policies and procedures.
Who We’re Looking For:
  1. Highly organized, detail-oriented, with strong communication skills.
  2. Discreet, empathetic, and professional in handling sensitive matters.
  3. Ability to multitask and prioritize effectively.
  4. 2-5 years of experience in HR-related roles is a plus.
  5. Experience with HRIS/payroll systems is preferred.
Qualifications:
  1. Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration or a related field (preferred).
  2. 2-5 years of administrative or HR support experience.
  3. Proficiency in Microsoft Office and willingness to learn new tools.
Job Details:
  • Type: Full-time, Part-time
  • Pay: $18.00 – $28.00 per hour
  • Benefits include dental, health, and vision insurance, employee discounts, paid time off, and flexible scheduling.
  • Schedule: Day shifts, Monday to Friday, weekends as needed, with options for different shifts and hours.
  • Work Location: In person
