Role Overview

Reporting to the Superintendent, Human Resources, the Advisor, Human Resources provides comprehensive HR support across employee relations, recruitment, onboarding, performance management, and policy administration while ensuring compliance with employment legislation and company policies. Partners with Operations and Management to deliver HR programs, resolve workplace issues, and foster a positive, productive, and inclusive work environment.

Rotation schedule will be two weeks on site following two weeks off site

Responsibilities:
  • Be a courageous safety leader, adhere to and sponsor safety and environmental rules and procedures
  • Administer and support the implementation of a variety of training and employee development programs for all employee groups at Red Dog Mine. The incumbent ensures the development of Supervisors is effective by administering various supervisor training programs
  • Administer and support employee central performance management program through the provision of guidance to managers and supervisors, the writing of job profile competencies, the coordination of related training & career development programs, and auditing for the compliance and effectiveness of the program
  • Provide training, guidance and support to supervisors and managers on developing effective employee Work Development Plans (WDP) for all NANA Shareholders working at Red Dog Mine starting at Level V and up into the exempt roles. Works in conjunction with the Sr. Advisor Shareholder Development to ensure WDP's are completed, monitored and reported on a monthly basis in the monthly Training & Development Report to Senior Management
  • Provide guidance to NMS on operational and financial improvements within the MSA Catering contact. Conducts monthly cost reviews, explains variances and adjusts forecast financial models to reflect changes within a given budgeted year
  • Provide guidance and support to supervisors and managers for employee relations items such as HR policies, recruitment, onboarding, performance management, disciplinary actions, and terminations
  • Complete various personnel reporting and audits to meet company and/or federal requirements on topics such as new hires, turnover; demographics, training advancements and progressions; and reporting
  • Provide relief for the Senior Advisors, Human Resources, Personnel Officer and Shareholder Development as needed
  • Coordinate and facilitate work groups to effectively assess, design and implement new integrated developmental programs that move Teck Alaska towards the goal, to the extent feasible, 100% Shareholder Hire at Red Dog Mine.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned
Qualifications:
  • Associates degree in Business, Human Resources Management, Organizational Development or related discipline preferred, or equivalent combination of education and experience in lieu of degree
  • An additional 3 years of progressive HR experience with exposure to employee relations, employee training and development programs and/or regulatory compliance of programs
  • Experience developing and administering Employee Training and Development of training programs is preferred
  • Working knowledge of employment legislation, human rights, workplace investigations and HR best practices
  • Department of Labor Apprenticeship & Trades regulatory compliance must be learned within the first six months the incumbent is in this role
  • Excellent oral and written communication, conflict resolution, problem-solving skills and interpersonal skills
  • Strong analytical skills and be able to make analytical assessments of needs and requirements based on the data collected. Must be able to generate reports from this data for review and approval by Senior Management
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment
  • Able to operate in a strict climate of confidentiality and discretion with professionalism
  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Office including Word, Excel, access, and PowerPoint
