The Human Resource Generalist is a primary point of contact for employees and supports day-to-day HR operations at Rocky Mountain Mutual Housing Association Inc. In this Denver-based hybrid role, you will coordinate payroll processing and partner closely with the Director/VP Human Resources on employee relations, training and development, and ongoing compliance with applicable regulations.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee the end-to-end payroll process and process payroll accurately and on time, including wages, bonuses, overtime, and deductions.
- Ensure payroll compliance with relevant laws and regulations.
- Review, track, and document compliance for mandatory and non-mandatory training, continuing education, and work assessments, which may include safety training, anti-harassment training, professional licensure, and aptitude exams or certifications.
- Collaborate with department managers to understand skills and competencies needed for job openings.
- Manage recruiting activities including posting roles, recruiting, screening, and facilitating the hiring of qualified applicants.
- Conduct or obtain background checks and verify employee eligibility.
- Implement new hire orientation and employee recognition programs.
- Administer core HR functions, including compensation, benefits, leave, disciplinary matters, disputes and investigations, productivity and morale, occupational health and safety, and training and development (as assigned).
- Handle employment-related inquiries from applicants, employees, and supervisors, escalating complex or sensitive topics to the VP Human Resources.
- Attend and participate in employee disciplinary meetings, terminations, and investigations when needed.
- Maintain compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, recommend best practices, and review policies and practices to support compliance.
- Stay current on HR and employment law trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and HR technology.
- Generate official internal HR documents such as offer letters and compensation notices.
- Create onboarding plans and educate newly hired employees on HR policies, internal procedures, and regulations.
- Maintain physical and digital personnel files, including documents, benefits, and attendance records.
- Develop employee engagement plans, secure required budget approvals, and initiate related activities.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

Compensation and Working Conditions
- Salary: USD 70,000 - 85,000 per year (commensurate with experience)
- Working conditions: Office-based with option to work remote 1 day per week; occasional travel to properties
Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in human resources, Business Administration, or related field preferred.
- SHRM certification: a plus
- Experience: 3+ years working in the human resources field
- Ability to develop and manage interpersonal relationships at all levels of the company.
- High level of customer service skills.
- Capacity to apply discretion and maintain confidentiality when handling sensitive information.
