Location:Thurston County -Tumwater, WA (Hybrid with expectations to be in the office as needed)

Salary:$4,093.00 - $5,501.00 Monthly.

The Opportunity:

We also recognize the importance of team-building and enjoy our team gatherings. We are seeking a motivated individual to support the SW Region of Child Welfare Field Operations in Washington state.

Key responsibilities include providing HR guidance to managers, supervisors, and employees regarding DCYF policies, WAC Civil Service laws, Collective Bargaining Agreements, and regulations related to protective leave and FLSA. This position will work under the supervision of higher-level HR professionals.

This position is based in Tumwater, WA, with a hybrid work model. In-person attendance will be required during the initial training period and for regularly scheduled team and client meetings. Occasional travel to support clients at their locations may also be necessary. Following the training phase, flexible or compressed work schedules may be considered.

Some of what you will get to do:

  • Consult with staff to provide guidance on HR-related procedures, policies, and guidelines.
  • Manage all personnel and payroll transactions related to new hires, promotions, demotions, transfers, and other employee changes.
  • Coordinate and lead new employee orientation sessions twice a month, offering a detailed overview of the benefits available to state employees.
  • Offer guidance to management regarding the initial steps related to performance management, attendance management, and employee relations.
  • Provide initial consultation regarding protective leave options and eligibility criteria.
  • Explain and assist staff with the completion of HR-related documents.
  • Respond to inquiries from employees, managers, and members of the public.
  • Assist with the processing and review of position allocations.
  • This role involves utilizing multiple system platforms, making strong organizational skills essential.

Required Qualifications:

  • Four (4) years of work experience in an office or human resources setting, or related field OR a mixture of relevant education and experience equaling four (4) years.

*Education must be with an emphasis on business or public administration, human resources, social or organizational behavioral sciences, or a related field from an accredited college or university whose accreditation is recognized by the U.S. Department of Education and the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA).

Preferred/Desired Qualifications:

  • SHRM-CP/SCP, S/PHR, or other professional HR certification
  • Professional experience providing consultation and administrative support within a Human Resources Office.
  • HRMS and NeoGov experience.
  • Proficiency with MS Word, Outlook, and Excel
