The Penn State College of Medicine, Department of Humanities in Hershey, PA is seeking a full-time Human Research Technologist to support research on medical decision making, communication quality analysis, and mixed methods research.

Responsibilities include data entry in REDCap, preparing materials, coordinating data collection at events, conducting interviews and focus groups, qualitative coding, and administrative duties. Training provided; no prior experience required.

Qualifications

Job description

POSITION SPECIFICS

The Penn State College of Medicine, Department of Humanities, in Hershey, PA is seeking a full-time Human Research Technologist to work on research activities within the Van Scoy Communication Lab. This position will support research programs related to medical decision making, communication quality analysis and mixed methods research occurring in a variety of settings that include rural, urban, underserved communities and ICU/hospital/healthcare settings.

Specific duties include but are not limited to:

• Data entry into study databases (REDCap) (training provided)
• Preparing research materials and project materials for participant use
• Travel by air, car or train to research events for data collection
• Shipping and tracking project materials to event sites
• Tracking participant stipends and maintaining administrative project databases
• Conducting interviews and focus groups via phone, in-person or via zoom (training provided)
• Qualitative data analysis (training provided)
• Attending lab meetings as requested
• Scheduling and organizing in-person and videoconference meetings
• Other duties as assigned

This is an in-person, full-time, position for 40 hours per week that we are looking to fill as soon as possible. This is a limited term appointment funded one year from the date of hire with the possibility of re-funding.

Applicants should have prior experience with administrative duties; have effective communication skills; be familiar with standard research practices; have a strong work ethic; and be able to work well independently and in a group. Prior experience conducting interviews and coding qualitative data is desirable as is experience working in community settings.

SALARY & BENEFITS

The salary range for this position, including all possible grades, is $40,608.00 - $58,836.00.
