The Japan and South Korea OU Human Insights Lead, Senior Director is a transformative, visionary leader who will shape and execute the Human Insights agenda for Japan and South Korea—while connecting to the broader global Human Insights network. This role requires deep consumer empathy, strategic thinking, and the ability to translate complex data into compelling stories that drive meaningful business impact.
By leveraging advanced AI and 1st-party data analytics, this leader will push the boundaries of traditional insights tools, creating cutting-edge capabilities to future-proof how we understand and serve consumers. Additionally, this role will partner closely in a networked model with a dotted-line shopper insights team—strengthening integrated insights generation across the organization.
What You'll Do for Us
Insights Strategy and Capabilities
- Integrate consumer, shopper, and cultural trends with advance analytics (AI, 1st party data) for Japan and South Korea.
- Champion next-gen insights methodologies (i.e. behavioral science) to ensure future-readiness.
- Collaborate with global teams, aligning multi-stakeholders to deliver holistic, cross functional impact.
Innovation & Brand Development
- Identify innovation opportunities across idea/concept development, product/packaging, and instore communication through consumer and shopper learning plan.
- Develop creative territories that inform brand strategies, refining briefs, visual identity, and campaigns through deep consumer and shopper empathy.
- Partner with Brand, IMX and R&D to launch new local/global brands guided by robust data and insights.
Shopper Insights and Actionable Solutions
- Serve as the insights champion to senior stakeholders, leveraging shopper analytics for critical business questions.
- Collaborate with shopper insights team to unify data across channels and consumer journeys.
- Use advanced methodologies and AI-driven approaches (i.e. behavior science, AI-based eye tracking) to uncover opportunities and shape end to end experiences.
Leadership, Culture & Network Collaboration
- Inspire and manage a high-performing insights team recognized domestically, regionally and globally.
- Provide coaching, talent development, and performance management, fostering a winning culture rooted in human understanding.
- Drive best practices across the global network, acting as a Coca-Cola Company spokesperson and partnering cross-functionally to share localized success and accelerate data-driven decisions.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Business, Social Sciences, Data Science, or related field; advanced degree (MBA, MA/MS) preferred.
- 15+ years of experience in Consumer Insights, Market Research, or Shopper Insights, with added exposure in Marketing or Innovation highly valued.
- Proven ability to architect, lead, and integrate AI tools and 1st-party data analytics into a holistic insights function.
- Demonstrated success in leading and transforming diverse teams, building a culture of collaboration, innovation, and data-driven impact.
- Skilled in future-back insights, scenario planning, and translating macro forces and cultural/behavioral nuances into actionable strategies.
- Exceptional communication and storytelling skills; must be able to clearly convey complex data insights to senior leadership, including C-suite stakeholders.
- Comfortable managing multiple priorities under high-pressure environments with fact-based advocacy, strong negotiation, and strategic thinking.
- Fluency in English required; proficiency in Japanese or Korean is highly desirable.
