Job summary

Exponent is seeking a Human Factors Scientist (Ph.D.) in Austin, TX to join our Human Factors Practice. You will analyze human performance across consumer products, workplaces, and safety scenarios, contributing to risk assessment and guidance.

You will design studies, review literature, and communicate findings clearly to non-technical stakeholders, while coordinating projects and client interactions. Relocation to Austin may be required.

Qualifications

• Ph.D. in Developmental, Experimental, Industrial, or Cognitive Psychology, or a related Psychology discipline, Neuroscience, or Vision Science.
• Based in or are willing to relocate to the Austin area
• Ability to design behavioral studies and analyze results
• Proficient in analytics, statistics, and programming (Excel, SPSS, MATLAB, Python, or R)
• Presently legally authorized to work in the United States; no immigration sponsorship or processing required

Responsibilities

• Working on multi-disciplinary projects analyzing human performance related to consumer products, occupational work, transportation accidents, warnings and safety information, and consumer decision making behavior
• Conducting research to obtain and review technical data, scientific literature, and standards
• Communicating complex analyses clearly to a non-technical audience
• Managing a range of consulting activities including human factors analyses of accidents and their prevention, usability testing, study and survey design
• Providing project management for multiple projects, including budgets and deadlines, and developing client contacts
