Required Skills & Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Naval Architecture, Ocean Engineering, Marine Engineering, Civil Engineering or similar
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience in shipbuilding or steel fabrication
  • Experience with American Bureau of Shipping (ABS) Steel Vessel Rules and Welding standards
  • Proficiency with MS Office and 2D CAD systems, such as AutoCAD
  • Proficiency with metric system preferred
  • Knowledge/experience concerning detail ship design
  • Knowledge/experience concerning modern shipbuilding practices
  • Experience with 3D modeling software, such as Tribon or Aveva Marine
  • Experience with AWS, ASME, and ASTM standards
  • International experience or familiarity with European and/or Asian Shipbuilding Standards

Job Responsibilities

  • Perform basic design, production design, and field engineering activities
  • Interface with planning, procurement, design departments, sub-contractors, and production personnel
  • Review structural arrangements using Classification Society rules
  • Develop, review, and check design drawings and calculations
  • Oversee design sub-contractors
  • Ensure proper documentation for production
  • Coordinate with various planners and engineers to ensure design information accuracy
  • Provide field engineering support during construction
  • Approve Design Change Notices and as-built drawings
  • Report steel weight information for ship weight monitoring

Compensation: $100,000 - $180,000 annually, depending on skills and experience. Benefits include medical, dental, vision insurance, HSA, FSA, DCFSA, 401(k) with employer matching, paid sick leave, and other paid time off.
