Job summary

The St. Paul Public Housing Agency seeks a Housing Inspector to join our Section 8 team. You will inspect units for occupancy and compliance with HUD and HQS standards, prepare clear narrative reports, and coordinate inspections across multiple sites.

You will interact with landlords, participants and staff to ensure quality, safety and timely repairs. Travel to various PHA locations is required, and a commitment to serving low-income families is essential.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of Housing Quality Standards (HQS) and HUD regulations.
• Experience with inspections or construction/repair is preferred.
• Ability to prepare clear, accurate reports and maintain logs.

Responsibilities

• Inspect Section 8 units at occupancy, annually, and in response to complaints.
• Prepare comprehensive written reports citing HQS deficiencies.
• Explain deficiencies to owners, landlords and participants.
• Coordinate quality control inspections to meet HUD/SEMAP standards.
• Schedule and coordinate various inspections (new, annual, move-out, etc.).
• Adhere to all PHA policies and safety procedures.
• Travel to multiple PHA sites as required.
