Job summary

Erie Neighborhood House in Chicago seeks a HUD Certified Housing Counselor to provide comprehensive counseling in homeownership, rental, and foreclosure prevention, with a focus on financial coaching for immigrant families.

You will schedule clients, coordinate resources, contribute to housing fairs, and maintain records; Spanish-English fluency and HUD recertification within 3 months are required. This on-site role offers strong benefits and growth opportunities.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent with 2–4 years related experience.
• HUD certification in foreclosure prevention/homeownership is a plus.
• English and Spanish fluency required.
• Experience with credit reports, budgeting, and financial coaching.
• Ability to work flexible hours and Saturdays.
• Knowledge of data integrity and reporting requirements.

Responsibilities

• Manage day-to-day client scheduling and deliver homeownership counseling.
• Recruit participants and coordinate with community resources.
• Lead on-site and off-site housing fairs and events.
• Provide information on all aspects of homeownership, with financial coaching focus.
• Perform ongoing case management and client file maintenance per HUD rules.
• Prepare timely reports for outcome reviews and audits; attend staff meetings.
• Travel occasionally for outreach, training, and registrations.
