Job summary

Nexstar Media Indianapolis is seeking an on-site Hub Supervisor for our 24/7 broadcast facility. The role focuses on supervising late night operations Thursday through Monday across a multi-station hub, with a strong emphasis on master control, staffing, and live-event coordination.

Ideal candidates will have Master Control and high-profile live event experience, with knowledge of broadcast signal flow, automation systems, and large team supervision across many stations.

Qualifications

• Prior supervisory experience in a multi-station Master Control Hub.
• Extensive knowledge of multi-station television master control operations.
• Knowledge of FCC regulations related to master control operations.
• Ability to manage a large staff in a 24/7 broadcast operation.
• Experience with Florical automation systems (playout and ingest).
• Experience with Telestream Vantage Transcoding systems.
• Ability to understand complicated workflows.
• Must be able to lift 40 lbs and perform installation/maintenance.

Responsibilities

• Supervise and train Hub Operations staff in a multi-station hub.
• Guide staff scheduling and participate in interviewing and hiring.
• Coach and counsel staff as needed.
• Ensure employees follow policies and procedures.
• Coordinate live event requirements and execution.
• Provide input for equipment and personnel future planning.
• Ensure hub and station compliance with FCC requirements.
• Communicate effectively with stations, hubs, and other departments.
• Report issues affecting the Hub to the Master Control Hub Manager promptly.

Job description

Nexstar Media Group has an opening for an on-site Hub Supervisor in our Indianapolis Broadcast Operations Center. The Hub Supervisor will report directly to the Hub Manager and be primarily responsible for overseeing late night operations Thursdays through Mondays in a large-scale 24/7 broadcast facility servicing television stations across the Company. The ideal candidate will have prior Master Control and high-profile live event experience with large team supervision and high station count hub operations. They will also have a high-level understanding of broadcast signal flow, automation systems, high volume media workflows, and strong computer skills.

The ideal candidate will:

• Provide supervision and training to Hub Operations staff in a multi-station broadcast hub environment.
• Provide guidance for staff scheduling.
• Provide coaching or counseling to staff as needed.
• Participate in the interview and hiring process for new hires.
• Ensure employees are following policies and procedures.
• Guide and track live event requirements and execution.
• Provide input for equipment and personnel future planning.
• Ensure hub and station compliance with FCC requirements.
• Have an understanding of broadcast equipment and signal flow.
• Effectively communicate and coordinate with stations, hubs, and other departments to ensure the hub and station needs are met in a timely manner.
• Provide timely and effective communication to the Master Control Hub Manager of all issues affecting the Hub.

Requirements:

• Prior supervisory experience in a multi-station Master Control Hub environment preferred.
• Extensive knowledge of multi-station television master control operations.
• Knowledge of FCC regulations related to master control operations.
• The ability to effectively manage a large staff in a fast paced, 24/7 broadcast operation.
• Experience with Florical automation systems including playout and ingest operations preferred.
• Experience with multi-node Telestream Vantage Transcoding systems.
• The ability to understand complicated workflows.
• Must be able to lift 40lbs, be able to bend, squat and kneel in order to install and maintain equipment. Must be able to sit and stand for long periods of time while monitoring operations.
