BJC HealthCare System is hiring a Full-Tim Histotechnician II (HT) at Missouri Baptist Medical Center (MBMC) - Surgical Pathology Dept

$10,000 Automatic Sign On Bonus Eligible!!!

Position Details:

  • Day Shift Hours: (Mon-Fri) with a Set Start Time of always 4:30am
  • Flexible schedule! 4 or 5 days per week at 10 or 8-hour shifts starting at 4:30am
  • Currently, do not routinely work weekends, and we have major Holidays off
  • Embedding, microtomy, IHC, Special Stains, Recuts,

Experience:

  • 1 year of experience
  • HT - ASCP or ASCP - HTL
  • Embedding, microtomy and IHC experience (preferred)
  • Histology Technician, Histologist
  • HISTOTECHNICIAN, Histotechnician

Requirements:

  • HTL- ASCP or equivalent Certification
  • Histo certification
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • 1 year of experience

Preferred Qualifications

Role Purpose

Responsible for providing a variety of routine and/or complex tests and procedures on tissue and related surgical specimens submitted for histological examination.

Responsibilities

  • Understands test principles, theory, maintenance, troubleshooting, and operation of all instrumentation in assigned areas.
  • Tasks to include, but not limited to, microtomy, embedding, staining, reagent preparation. Performs and documents quality controls for all equipment and troubleshoots malfunctioning instrumentation as necessary. Performs special stains and immunohisotchemistry, (manual or automated), after reagent preparation.
  • Ability to utilize critical thinking skills to perform above tasks and responsibilities.
  • Trained to complete tissue gross examination as needed.
  • Must meet the High Complexity qualifications as written in CLIA 42CFR493.
